I was in need of a dentist to get a filing fixed, and ended up choosing Forest Family Dentistry North based on the good reviews. I haven't been to a dentist in over four years because of a negative experience that I had with my previous dentist. I made an appointment for what I thought would be a routine cleaning and for the filling to be looked at. When I got there and checked in, the hygienist took x-rays and then Dr. Pandya charted my gums. After the charting, Dr. Pandya told me my gums weren't that bad considering it's been a while since I was last seen by a dentist. However, she did tell me I had bone loss, a tooth that "sunk" during the charting (huh?), a filling that was "leaking" (what?), and proceeded to ask me if I thought about veneers or teeth whitening (um, no). When I went to leave, I was given a laundry list of work that needed to be done (to the tune of over $2k out of pocket), scheduled an appointment for fillings (one of the reasons I made the appointment in the first place) and was a little confused that no cleaning was done. I ended up going back in and the receptionist told me that they tried to call me for two days to tell me there wouldn’t be a cleaning. The receptionist called my office number, which was closed for the holidays, and not my cell phone, so I never received the message. I scheduled the cleaning for a different day and left. When I got home, I get a call from the receptionist who told me that I couldn’t have a cleaning or fillings done until I had a deep cleaning. I questioned this and was told she’d call me back. When she called me back we tried to schedule a day that worked for the filling and deep clean and she continues to try and give me times for a date I told her no longer worked. I also asked about the cost of this deep clean and she said it would be two separate appointments at $299 each. Why? Why couldn’t I just get a routine cleaning and my filling done without the need for the deep clean. She proceeded to tell me that I have severe gum disease (what?! mind you, not one mention of this from the dentist) and I told her I wasn’t comfortable making any appointments, and would wait to hear from the dentist via email. I received an email from Dr. Pandya and was not confident in her explanation for the work that needed to be done. I did let her know that the receptionist said I had severe gum disease, and would be seeking a second opinion. This place only cares about money and not quality care. I'm giving three stars because the hygienist was nice and they sent me my x-rays on request, without issue.
P.S. More of my filling fell out since my initial appointment, so time was of the essence. I had my second opinion today, and the dentist was confident that I did not need a deep clean and didn't find any signs of bone loss! I was able to get the routine cleaning done and all fillings fixed (including ones that were about to be a future problem) in the same...
Read moreSo many things to mention and since many businesses thrive on reviews, I’m here to give you the nitty gritty! So, my parents neglected my teeth while growing up, they are relatively straight and didn’t cause me problems. Fast forward to becoming an adult and not even knowing where to start I started looking up dentists, by reviews of course, and landed on Forest Family Dentistry. It was because of the rave reviews and convenience in location and hours of operation I decided to go for it!
I went in because I hadn’t seen a dentist since I was kid and the dentist came by the school to do cleanings. I was also experiencing extreme pain, like the kind when your teeth have been neglected for 20+ years. Dr. Rick and all of the staff at FFD were so kind and gentle. They didn’t judge me, they didn’t make snide comments, they never made me feel bad. Just so welcoming and genuine concern for the pain I was experiencing. After my exam and assessment Dr.Rick and his team came up with a dental plan and time frame to have it all completed.
I was seriously so impressed by all of it. The follow up calls, and even a call to tell me insurance covered more of my procedure and offered to refund me or keep the money in my account to use at a later time. Dr. Rick has squeezed me in last minute and even as late as 7pm on a weekday.
I could not be more fortunate to have been placed on Dr. Rick’s schedule my first visit. I count my stars every time I need dental work because I know I am in the best hands and care North Austin has to offer. The cherry on top of it all? They even take babies! So my 16 month old daughter and I get to see the same dentist. Saying I would be heart broken if I ever had to part ways with this office and staff is an understatement.
If you have dental anxiety, are nervous, worried it will break the bank, go to FFD! They will treat you like family and help you find the most cost effective procedures without compromising your care. I could go on and on and recommend this office to everyone. They are simply the best! We love you FFD thank you...
Read moreI've since visited a different dental office and they gave me a full check up and dental roadmap of the work I'd need to get into tip top shape. Forest would charge me 20k for everything including a lot of exorbitantly overpriced checkups and a heafty sum just for your dental records. Meanwhile my new dentist is charging me a quarter of what Forest is for everything, there was no egregious prices, they don't charge for your dental records, they didn't take a credit card hostage for payment plans. My previous reservations and fears were realized, and I certainly don't appreciate it. My specific experience at this location that has prompted this review was that I was sent here because my usual doctor was on vacation, and this location was closer to my current home. Cool, more convenient. I went in and spoke with the doctor about a current and serious problem I was having, to which they didn't explain anything and prescribed me some pain medice with no plan on how to move forward- though she did give me an updated roadmap for my dental care that was another $8,000 on top of my already planned out $20k roadmap. She didn't even look in my mouth other than to look at the bump in my gums I went there for. I had to find out through a friend what it was- an abcess! And a very bad one, it swoll to about the size of a fat lima bean on my gums before it finally burst and my whole lower face was swelling. I got with my regular dentist and he wasn't sure why my roadmap was changed, and he said he would change it back which he did, but it was still poor practice on the dentists part to not educate me on a really serious issue I had and change my plan when it didn't even...
