Review 2- Oct 25th 2024 This time food was amazing. Andrea is a wonderful lady who helped us to get seated immediately and taken the order and served food quickly and it tasted hot and delicious. We ordered Hot and sour soup and chicken fried rice. Both are hot and fresh. Giving the five star rating for the portion size. Must recommended and much better than many thai and chinese restaurants. Firstly the entrance to the restaurant is a big solid red door, we are confused on whether the restaurant is open or closed until we see a label on the side, and no visibility of the hotel from outside since its all covered. A transparent door might help to invite more guests. Secondly the food is not served hot but it is only warm. We ordered sweet and sour soup, chicken fried rice and pan fried noodles. Portion size, taste, cost are all good except the temperature of the food. Staff is friendly and good to try.

We were greeted by the sweetest Zumu (grandmother) who helped us. Unassuming casual restaurant filled with a very friendly atmosphere. The soups are so rich and flavorful at Twin Lion Chinese Restaurant in Austin. The seasoning is excellent. We had the lunch specials served with an egg roll and soup. We also had crab Rangoon - excellent- amazing fried oozing with delicious cream cheese and their steamed dumplings. The dumplings are big and very tasty. I had Mongolian. Perfect. Just perfect. Hubby had the "Dragon and Lion Fight" was also tasty with the vegetables still slightly crispy. We want to come back and try the appetizer sampler. We give this place for the great fresh food and the casual and super sweet service a 6!!. A restaurant does not have to be pretentious and fancy to be a 6 in my book!!!

My brother and I used to come here every week. We just got the food tonight after not eating it for a few months and it's totally different. The sesame chicken came in a standalone smaller black container. They used to be thinly sliced strips and was very crunchy. They are now barely fried and thicker cuts of chicken. We always get the fried dumplings and they used to be in the shape of actual dumplings and were amazing. We received 2 orders of steamed gyoza instead and it was mediocre at best. Did the restaurant get sold to new management or something? The son is usually in the front helping out and he was no longer there when we picked up. This used to be the best Chinese food in Austin and now is honestly some of the worst.

Super frustrated because me and my family used to love coming here....the food isn't really anything special. But what was the tipping point today was when they talked to my mother very condescendingly and basically kicked us out. I get that they close at 2:30 pm but they were constantly badgering us to pay and leave at 2:10 pm. We were meeting for lunch at 2pm and I had to stop and get gas so she got there first and ordered my food for me. He had apparently went up to her 4 different times and asked her if I was coming or not. He didn't want to waste the food if I did not come...then he asked my mom if she could call me and see if I was on my way. Very unprofessional. Then of course he brings out my food as soon as he sees I'm there. And ten minutes later I guess I'm supposed to be done eating my food so they bring our check and I ask for a box since we're made to feel uncomfortable and rushed. My mom was telling me about her day and the cashier comes to our table and tells us that she's closing the register and wanted us to pay so my mom pays and we figured that was that and she went on telling me about her day. Then the initial waiter who was rude to her came up and grabbed the bill and a few minutes later came up to us and said, "We're closed now" in a very rude tone. I'm sorry but we will never be coming here again if this is how they are going to treat their customers. Their sub par chinese food does NOT make up for their crappy attitude and service. Save your money and get Eggroll Express or hell,...

I never thought I'd want to give less than 5 stars, I've been going here for 20 years or so. I'm not sure what happened but the crab rangoons have suddenly changed to what I can only compare to store bought. The sesame chicken was prepared differently and was almost the same as other much worse chinese places. The beef kabobs were off aswell. Everything else seemed the same, but some changes have been made that truly upset me after loving this place for so long. It's still worth going to, but I do hope they read their reviews and reconsider changing some of the staple dishes so drastically.

Edit: Decided to try them again after about a year, I'm sad to report that things have gotten worse. Generic store-bought rangoons, skewers weren't disgusting this time but flavorless. Sesame chicken lost all it's flavor and it's no longer that lovely crunchy texture it used to have, the sauce isn't even the same color anymore. Spare ribs are flavorless now aswell, shrimp toast was changed slightly but still good, same with the fried shrimp. Egg rolls have been changed but are still alright, wonton soup broth is still solid but whatever they changed the wontons too is disgusting.

TLDR; I'm changing my review to 1 star due to all this and the lies I've read that they haven't changed things, I wish lower was possible. These new owners have ruined a 20+ year staple and I cannot see a reason to return again. I grew up coming here, had birthday's here and cannot fully express the gravity of my...

DO NOT COME HERE! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! We came on a Sunday after reading reviews on Yelp and Google; according to them, it is above average. We ordered Combination Lo Mein, Kung Pao Combination, Orange Chicken, sweet and sour pork, and sticky rice. The food arrived and it looked unappealing, and after tasting it, I wanted to throw up. It left an after taste that I can't describe. I called the waiter and asked him if the food was freshly cooked, and his answer was yes. I told him we were not going to eat the food because it was old and didn't taste good and asked for a reasonable price to pay (on top of the horrible after taste and bad experience ). I really think I should get paid for risking myself to eat this stuff. THE Chicken lo mein had old noodles, the pork was re fried from other times, the Kung Pao tasted like sewer and the sticky rice was old and nasty. The person in charge came, he said their food is good and said it is not his fault we didn't like the food. They discounted $20 dollars of the $50 dollar ticket. We did not consume more than 10% of what we ordered. We should have just paid for the drinks. We walked away and went for freshly cooked burgers at 5 Guys. Twin Lions do not have pride in what they do, they are not responsible for their cooking and it is a disgrace to Chinese cuisine. Again, you have been warned, SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AND ABSTAIN FROM...
