I'm going to cover two aspects about this gym review. The gym itself like the equipment and what all it offers, and finally the sales staff.
While it's important to note this particular location isn't open 24/7, it's still a great gym to go to. I've been going to this gym for several years and I feel the equipment here is well maintained. This location does staff a lot of personal trainers so you can almost certainly find a trainer who you think would best suit you.
If you are looking for a location that has a pool, sauna, and a steam room; this location has all three. This gym does offer various classes for free as well such as spin classes. Overall I've gone to around 6-7 different 24 Hour Fitness (24HF) locations, and I would say this location is my favorite as far as the equipment selection. For cardio, I enjoy using the stair master and they have a lot of them to use.
For the sales staff here unfortunately this is where this particular location takes a nose dive. They will straight up lie to your face, and I've directly caught them doing that to me. Continue reading and you will discover why.
Without any discounts the average gym membership here costed me $36.00 per month or $432.00 per year. I recently discovered Costco sells two YEAR membership to 24 fitness for $400.00. So you can pay $400.00 for two years OR you can pay $864.00 if you go month to month. Hmm such a TOUGH decision. After years of being a fool, I purchased the two year membership from Costco.
So here's the deal, one day I discovered my 2 year 24HF membership that I purchased from Costco was going to expire shortly. Without saying any prompts to the sales employee, he said "But did I know that I can't use another pass from Costco." I told him I had never heard that before. He said even the fine print on the deal said it can only be used once per customer. The sales associate requested that the sales manager speak with me.
The sales manager explained the very same thing, that I could not use another 2 year membership from Costco. He said it didn't matter if I went to another location either, I would be flagged in their system. Being a investigator, I decided to research this further. I checked the Terms and Conditions for the pass at Costco and it said "Limit one per person." What was NOT clear was if that meant I could only buy one per day or one in my lifetime.
I called Costco to get clarification and I was told that I could buy as many as I wanted and that you could just only buy one at a time. So I had uncovered officially that this 24HF location was lying to me. I returned to 24HF the same day and found the same lying sales associate at the front desk.
I told him I wanted to get some clarification from what he was telling me. I relayed to him that Costco would sell me as many memberships as I wanted, so are you telling me if I purchase another one you will refuse me? He said "Hold on, first off calm down. First off Costco is the ones who are telling us that we can only accept one, which is why we tell people that they can only use one. Also, when you buy from Costco, our sales associates receive nothing, so we want to look out for our team."
That second part told me everything I needed to hear. Translation? I don't care if it will cost you far more money, I will lie to you to get you to pay month to month with us. Listen, I get not being upfront and sharing hey by the way, you shouldn't purchase a membership with us, get it through Costco, because you arn't making any money. Lying though when a customer brings it up to you? That's beyond messed up.
The same sales manager also called me back the following day that I purchased and used my Costco membership. He asked me if I wanted to sign up month to month with him. I told him I already purchased the Costco membership and applied it to my account there. He told me he would "honor it." Oh how quick he went from saying I "could not use it again" to saying I could, without even...
Read moreI bought five personal training sessions. I took 2 of them. The next day after my second one, I did the Silver Sneakers class and the lunge movement injured my hip. I told my trainer and we cancelled my next session. The hip got worse, so I call and told them that I'd had to have steroid and Hyalgan shots in my hip and could not work out for awhile. My two training sessions were in June 2018, I had the Hyalgan series of shots in my left hip in July and finished my PT on my hip and planned to start back in a week (late August). Then my left knee went out and my Hyalgan shots series took until mid September. My knee physical therapy ended In October. My right hip went out the end of Oct,, I had to have a steroid shot in it as well. When it was getting better in late November, I started to schedule my remaining 3 PT sessions, with my physical therapist when the Hyalgan in the right hip wore off and I ended up in a wheel chair from Christmas until April 2nd when I had surgery on the left hip to replace it. I took physical therapy for that in my home, and they said I would go to outpatient physical therapy sometime in June. So, the middle of May, I called 24 Hour Fitness to set up my last three PT sessions (that I had paid for) for the end of June when my Outpatient Physical therapy was the slated to end. I was told that the sessions would expire in one week. I told him that I was not medically released yet to return to regular physical training at the gym. He said if I didn't take them by the next week they they would expire. I was livid. Then, about a month ago, the manager of 24 Hour Fitness sent me an email offering me a discount on a PT package. I wrote back and said that I might consider it if: 1. They would let me schedule the three that I'd already paid for, and If they would give me a written guarantee that the next package could be extended if/when I had to have more hip and/or knee surgery. I wrote him that if he did not respond, or if he would not give me a refund or let me schedule the ones I'd pay for, that I'd be forced to write a review. As of today, all I hear is crickets chirping . . . NO reply from 24 Hour Fitness. VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND CRUEL TO THE TEMPORARILY DISABLED. MAYBE EVEN IN VIOLATION OF THE AMERICANS WITH...

I've first joined a 24 hrs fitness center in Memphis TN in 2000 and at the time I was paying $20 per month... I've traveled all over the country and used the facilities under this 24hrs fitness franchise and brand name to this day...
The service is getting worse, the schedule is reduced despite the core concept as they started to be non-stop 24/7/365 open yet the membership prices went up and up...
Especially recently under new ownership in the last 2-5 yrs they lost the sense of customer service and all they want is your money and then to get you out of the facilities as soon as possible without being rude to your face...
That's why is not 24hrs open anymore because they don't want you inside using their poorly maintained facilities and equipment for too long...
They're using COVID pandemic as an excuse and before that maintenance and cleaning time needed for not keeping it open 24hrs...
But they don't reduce the membership prices accordingly to compensate for the time we the users and members are not able to use the facilities...on the contrary...we now pay more for the membership as you members already know yet we have less time available to use it...
It was one of the best in the nation... and due to the recent corporate greed became one of the worst in the nation as it is now...
Why am I still with them?? While in Dallas I just cancelled and switched to their competition L.A.fitness that sadly are no better... and Esporta fitness under the same corporate umbrella...but not affiliated with 24 hrs fitness...
Ironically there is none L.A. or Esporta fitness in Austin area where I need to be due to a job assignment...so here I am even if I don't want to, back to 24 hrs fitness that's not even open24 hrs as it should...
why pay extra staff for the night shift, why not keep the increased profits from increasing membership fees in the pockets of the 1% of the 1% who own the corporation...
Why am I not using others?? Because others don't have a swimming pool and steam room and sauna which is my thing at the gym...
