Best gym around if you like group classes and or group training. Two thirds of the gym is dedicated to group training or group workouts and marked with pylons. This includes cardio equipment. Trainers floating in and out with private clients in remaining available areas. This place is declining in overall satisfaction as one must be very patient with new goals and direction of the gym. Be prepared to be solicited with reoccurring commercials for group training in tv’s throughout the gym area on a never ending loop. 10plus year members and first time we are thinking it maybe time to find a new gym. Update now they’re offering mixed martial arts in the remaining open areas. Private instruction. What is left for us to utilize in this place?

Do you want to join a gym that raises your rates every year, claims that they are doing so due in part to waiting lists for other locations (when in actuality there are no waiting lists for Austin locations other than the one which is not yet open; yes I called them all), with managers who don’t respond to your emails when you inquire as to why your rate is going up so much when they are signing up so many people you always have to wait on equipment, or come in after work to find no towels available in the locker room after you shower? Well then, this might be the gym for you. Third time in two weeks I’ve been to this location during post work hours with no towels available and no one working the locker room

Took my autistic son Paul and his autistic friend Tyler to this gym to get them outside the house because all they do is stay inside to play video games. We immediately got kicked out of the facility because Tyler was wearing his chicken outfit. He is has an extreme case of autism and likes to wear a chicken outfit when he goes out. My wife Enza and i support this, we feel it is good for him and is self expression. However, this gym discriminated against him and kicked us all out of the gym even when we told him he was autistic and just wanted to bench a couple pounds (doesn't do leg day omegalul). He started crying after we got kicked out so we took them to KFC instead.

LIVE WORMS IN THE BATHROOM AT LIFETIME FITNESS IN SOUTH AUSTIN!

I get that mistakes and even bugs, happen. That being said, this is just not ok. After giving LifeTime the benefit of the doubt, I was lied to and the issue still isn’t resolved. I’ve also had a discussion with the corporate office this afternoon, who had no resolution to offer and said they “are not there in Texas so there is only so much we can do. We will however let management know about your concern.”

My husband and I have been members of LifeTime for a while. We pay for a level of membership which gives us each a close parking spot and I pay for my locker each month as well. Additionally, we pay extra each month to give my daughter the ability to come with us and my husband also pays for a trainer each month at this facility. In other words, we had been very invested here.

On Wednesday 8/22 I visited the south Austin location only to open up my locker and discover that it had been cleaned out. It took about 30 minutes for them to locate my items which were brought to me in a room in a GIANT trash bag filled with tons of lost and found items. Dirty shoes, old brushes, sweaty clothes, etc. As you can imagine, I was extremely unhappy to find all of my items which I keep in my locker mixed with disgusting lost and found things. I was told it was a mistake and how sorry they were and that they would be happy to replace my yoga mat with one of their own. Never mind that I also had two pairs of shoes, a hot yoga towel, wights a bag and other items in my locker, which are now in my eyes, ruined. As violated as I felt, I thanked that employee for his time and finding my items and went to my work out.

When I came back I went to the women’s locker room to take a shower. During my shower I noticed WORMS were on the walls, crawling around me. Horrified, I went out to speak with the same gentleman who found my stuff at the member services desk. I was told they were aware of the issue and had already had Orkin out several times, they thought they had contained the issue. I asked why the showers were not closed or at least a notice put up for patrons so they would be aware that small worms were living in the showers and all over the floors and the walls ...he didn’t have an explanation for me. Infuriated and with crawling skin, I went home to take another shower.

Two days later AFTER I field a complaint with whom ever handles their social media account, I was given a call by their member services manager. He again apologized for the locker and then told me that the worms were not something that they were aware of (how I would know orkin services otherwise is beyond me... either way one of the two of the associates lied...), however, now that they were aware, they took immediate action. He offered me one month free off of my membership because he understood that it would take time for me to want to come back. He assured me that a treatment had been done and he personally had walked the showers this AM and found nothing in there. Anxious to see if this problem had in fact been remedied, I got in my car and drove to lifetime. On Wednesday, when I first saw the worms I was in the third stall on the left in the shower room. Today, when I went in, I went to the very first stall and immediately saw multiple worms crawling around. In addition to lots of mold on the walls. This is a full 48hrs AFTER I made them aware of the issue and AFTER lifetimes manager reached out to me about how the issue had been remedied and asked that I please give them the benefit of the doubt. He insisted that they had fixed the problem as soon as they were made aware of the issue... etc etc. Sadly, nothing has been handled. I was lied to and there are clearly, still living, crawling, unknown worms which patrons are STILL not being made aware about living in the showers at life time fitness at this exact moment...Disgusting...

Absolutely phenomenal place- down to earth. I’ve been a member for almost 4 years and have to say this place is really supportive of fitness goals, they’re friendly-knowledgeable-helpful-clean-and it’s a great place for the price because I have unlimited access to classes in a regular membership that would cost $1000’s of dollars a month for access to these skilled instructors and classes which I'd have to piece together across Austin if I wasn't a member here. Daily, there’s about 15 different cardio classes, 5 different yoga classes, 5 different barbell classes and various other activities, great childcare, three building levels of stuff going on. Amazing and well run classes,( to name a few), for Yoga, Barbell Strength and Cardio Kickboxing in these great huge rooms where they lower the lights a bit, put on some good tunes, and you’re working around about 30 or 40 other people with good attitudes, no judgment, and a lot of different skill levels, body weights, identities, creeds, backgrounds, and everything. The workout floor is really nice and clean with sooo much equipment and space and a friendly atmosphere. The instructors in the classes are very easy going and hard working! Being a mature woman myself, I appreciate that they give you all kinds of recommendations on how you can alter and move to make it better for you while you’re learning, but they are so fit and skilled they can thoughtfully teach the most fit youngsters too! I mean they coach you through every part of this and help ALL skill levels, I mean all.

And the swimming pool! Oh my gosh there’s two of them but the outdoor pool is like a spa beach type setting! They keep it really clean.

There’s outdoor and indoor saunas, private saunas in each one of the women’s and men’s locker room’s, dry sauna is super clean, restrooms and showers are kept super clean, lockers too- you cannot believe how much you'll get for the price. And it’s a beautiful beautiful club! Faizon & Jennifer keep this place running like clockwork, of course, there are many parts to a clock and you’ve got to include everybody else that keeps the place running, classes going and keeping it clean, tidy, and friendly. I mean, this place is really awesome. No joke. Jeanne, Beth and Kelly,(and that’s just to name a few of the instructors) that are soooo great. Everybody else is too though. I started my fitness journey really slow but they certainly are motivating- every class I attend there is really awesome. I seriously can’t say enough good things about this place. I started out going to two classes a week now I’m there five days a week, and I’ve never been in better shape in my life! I zip in and out. It’s a good place, with good people, and...

I’ve previously raised concerns about the water being turned off before members could shower, apparently to rush staff out the door by midnight. Tonight, I experienced yet another frustrating issue that highlights a recurring problem with closing procedures.

I drove all the way from campus, bypassing Anytime Fitness across the street, specifically to use the sauna. I delayed my workout all day for this trip. After finishing my workout, I headed toward the pool area to use the sauna, but the front desk staff told me it wasn’t on because it was being cleaned. However, as I walked back to the locker room, I noticed someone sitting in the sauna. Curious, I checked and found that the sauna was indeed on—it had been cleaned and turned back on.

It felt as though the front desk associate was intentionally discouraging sauna use to speed up closing procedures. This is unacceptable given the high membership fees we pay.

While using the sauna, another staff member—a dark-haired Asian man—opened the sauna door, allowing heat to escape, to tell us we needed to leave by midnight. This was not the first time he had done this. On a previous occasion, he opened the sauna door and told us the water would be turned off—a claim I later addressed with the general manager, who assured me this practice was unacceptable and would not happen again. Ontop of that, when I did finally get into the shower I realized none of the soaps had been refilled. Perhaps before someone comes to rush us out the door, they should make sure and take the time to finish. There is no reason someone should come walking into the sauna 10 minutes before you close to rush us out when they havent even finished restocking the things we need to shower and get out the door for them.

This gym has significantly reduced its value to members: it’s no longer 24 hours, has removed one of the basketball courts, added paid lockers while reducing free ones, and raised prices—all while delivering less. Members are now being rushed out the door at closing, which diminishes the experience we pay for.

The daytime general manager has been understanding in the past, but tonight’s experience shows that these issues persist. Staff attempting to speed up their closing duties caused unnecessary delays for members. Had the sauna situation been communicated accurately, and had the sauna door not been opened unnecessarily, we all would have been finished and out the door much sooner.

I hope Lifetime Fitness management addresses these recurring issues promptly to restore the standard of service expected...
