Skandinavia Contemporary Interiors — Local services in Austin

I learned long ago to avoid Skandinavia...key words are "long ago", as I disliked the pushy sales approach from the staff back in the day. Luckily I decided to give them another shot, as they are an American Leather dealer and I like A. L. furniture. Luckily, because my wife and I met Aaron, one of the sales staff at the new location in south Austin. He listened carefully to our desires, showed us alternatives without any pressure, educated us thoroughly on the many grades and colors of leathers A. L. offers, and in the end we felt confident in ordering a new leather sofa and love seat for our den. Aaron kept us updated on the rather lengthy wait for the pieces to be made, due to the pandemic. I won't hesitate to recommend Aaron and Skandinavia in the future. We are very happy with the entire experience.

UPDATE... 3+ YEARS LATER:

I wish I could add review stars. The great American Leather sofa and love seat we bought through Aaron has seen jard use with rambunctious kids, adults a big dog, and the back cushions had gotten a little flattened. Not surprising, as they're filled with down. I called American Leather to ask about buying replacement innards and the customer service rep said I'm still under warranty and I should go through Skandinavia to see what could be done. Between A. L. 's super customer service and Aaron staying on top of the situation all the back cushions have new fillings! How often have you had a company and a sales person go to extraordinary lengths to help you THREE YEARS after the sale? The loft portion of our house has very unusual dimensions to deal with, but we felt that the right piece of furniture could turn this into a great space. I happened to stop by Skandinavia between errands (with my dog, Whisky, who was treated like royalty) and we met Amanda. She is very helpful and creative without the pushy "let's make a sale today" attitude. Because of this positive first experience, I asked my wife to look at the options Amanda had shown me. We ended up with a combination of sectionals that seemed to meet all of our criteria. But you never know until it shows up. Firstly, the delivery crew, Rudy and Will, are top shelf professionals. They treat your home like it's theirs, and are the kind of guys you'd like to hang around with for a beer (OK, I offered. But again...professionals, they declined) and they left our home without a scratch. Secondly, the piece of furniture they delivered was even better than we imagined. It has taken the loft from an "OK" space to a "destination". Amanda nailed it. We were looking to replace our (wooden) kitchen table chairs with something nicer and more comfortable. We decided on leather seats, so they last longer, with a taller back support, for a more modern look. We went through many stores in the area and could not find exactly what we wanted. Most stores did not have this specific chair design, and those that did have it, the chairs were flimsy or did not offer leather. We stopped at Skandinavia Contemporary Interiors store and Giovanni was super helpful with steering us towards the chairs we had in mind, and providing us with different color leather and wood samples that we were able to take home and find a best match with our table and floor. He also sent us web links, so that we can easily compare different styles. A day after the purchase, he also found a 6% discount and applied it to our purchase, which was also really nice. And lastly, the chairs were supposed to arrive in January, after the holidays, but instead they came at the beginning of December, which was a pleasant surprise.
