Hair Extension Nightmare:
Recently got sewed in extensionsā¦.reached out to stylist after researching all Stylist and the Salon. Both had great reviews and reputable certifications, checked all the boxes. I reached out to stylist Savanah Rice and in my initial message I mentioned āI am looking into extensions, because I cannot color my hair because I am very allergic to all hair color.ā
We talked scheduled a month and a half out, went 2weeks prior to get hair matched, then finally appointment day. This entire time I always made sure to mention my allergy to color. The day of appointment, we are talking and I was mentioning to her how allergic to color I am and how excited I am for extensions, to help maybe give me more color.
Midway she said I did add a gloss, but itās just a gloss had no PPDās and I washed it a ton, I said ok because Iām half way done and thinking it will be fine.
4 days later, Iām breaking out in scabs, red, swollen, and she had to remove them asap. The mentioned to come back for my Move up and she will have them super Washes and I will only pay for move up fee.
After I left I was confused that I just paid 2700$ on extensions that I told her I canāt have color in but she still put color and trusted her professional opinion and got them done, but now Iām out money and no extensions and have to pay more to get them back on.
I called owner Tiffany Vogelpohl spoke to her and at first it seem like she sounded concerned and caring, and said you donāt have to pay move up, let me see if we can fix situation and find a gloss you can use cause all hair extensions have to have a gloss or they will fade bad.
I explained I am highly allergic to all color and not sure if it will work but willing to try. So I decided to work with her but after a patch test and more reaction, we determined I canāt wear extensions because according to her I have to have a gloss each move up or they will look fade and bad, even though, I reached out to multiple hair companies that she mentioned and all have contradicted what she has said.
So I requested a refund, but she refused cause she is a small business and canāt afford that loss, and to let her think about a solution.
One of the solutions was that she could pull the hair that was colored out of the extensions??? and replace it?? How? they donāt manufacture them so how will she do that???
I have natural dark brown hair, not hard to math at all.
I donāt know what other solution other than a refund, but unsure why she doesnāt see that.
If It would have been explained initially that the extensions need a gloss each time , I would have never gotten them to begin with but that wasn't explained until after the fact.
I had a comprehensive test for ppdsās 15 yrs ago in Florida when my allergy started. I have not since colored my Hair due to allergies.
I reached out to hair company and have their emails and the communication with stylist, who never explained the hair need of glossing every move up.
Hair company also replied that is at stylist discretion to use color or gloss if needed to blend, but itās not a need to do it, itās clearly on the email.
She wanted to continue to find a solution since refund was it an optionā¦. so I volunteered to use an a safer color to try since I had no other choice but to try. Savanna never explained that I needed to glass my extension each move up and I did exactly what she said to do and wore hair for 4days without washing, as I wore them the color gloss got onmy Scalp and created I had a comprehensive test for ppdsās 15 yrs ago in Florida when my allergy started. Ā Ā Ā Read moreI moved to Austin in 2021 and was in need of a new stylist who is skilled in extensions and coloring / blonde. I saw Tiffany for a consultation, where I quickly knew, this is a very knowledgeable and experienced stylist. I instantly loved her energy and vibe and felt a level of comfort and trust right away. She convinced me to move away from beaded extensions and go with weft extensions. She indicated Weft installation would be less damaging on my hair, allow for more flexibly and styling as well. I'm thrilled to say after 1 year of having her care for my hair and this new method of extension installation, my natural hair has grown substantially and is MUCH healthier. I cannot recommend Tiffany or her team enough. She constantly goes above and beyond with training for her staff, keeping up with the latest and greatest. You can feel the positive energy from everyone at the salon. The Collective ATX...
