Let me start off by saying that I want this place to succeed. I'm sure these people have the spirit to improve and I really want a place to get a taste of home, but with that said I want to offer some constructive criticism. I ordered a classic Chicago style hot dog and my family with me ordered an Italian Beef sandwich and a spicy polish. A general issue which was noticable right off the bat was that the food arrived at our table cold. Even my hot dog link was only lukewarm. And to add to that, for some reason the hinge of the bun was soaked which caused it to tear. For hot dogs and polishes, we expected the buns to be steamed and warm and for the onions on the polish to be grilled to order. It seems to us that didn't happen. Another issue was that the sports peppers didn't seem fresh. For some reason the outer skin was tough and it seemed spicer than normal almost as if the pepper had dried out a bit. I'm not sure if this is a sourcing issue, but still disappointing. Now for the Italian Beef, the same issues applied. Bread cold, meat barely lukewarm. The meat should be hot and bathed (if not dunked) in the juices and pulled out for every order. I expected a lot more from a place with a 5.0 as of writing this. But I know it can be better. You have everything you need and you guys seem to have the know-how to pull it off, it's just...

As we drove down Lamar as we do daily, lately. A lady standing outside of a food truck with her family in a robe made me do a double take. I related with her on a level that was extremely humorous. Hours earlier, I was she walking my dog outside my home. My husband had asked what I wanted to eat. I said a hotdog! A native of Chicago, I'm naturally skeptical of a good dog. So here we are, a request for a dog, a lady, after my own heart, standing there getting her fix on. I wanted ,I got , I had! Having my meal brought so much home like feel, it was transforming. I could remember several authentic places in Chicago, and this took me there. Can't wait to bring the family to enjoy the patio seating along with the musical vibe that is Austin. Thank you for bringing a true taste of...
Read moreCan't say enough great things about this place. Chicagoans have a certain collective pride. It doesn't matter where you go in the City, you can feel it. One of the biggest conduits of that pride is the FOOD. Coming along with all that pride are very high expectations when the words "authentic" Chicago style food are thrown out. These expectations are met with a painstaking approach to Chitown authenticity. The nostalgia encapsulating Wrigleyville South Dogs & Beef provides a true sense of comfort. If you are from Chicago this will bring you back to it's bustling streets; if you have never been, this will be like a window into the heart (or stomach) of Chicago. The owners, Brian and Teri, are cut from the same cloth as the great people that have bolstered the Windy City for many years. Their love and attention to detail comes through with each bite. But, go taste it for yourself. For words don't fill your stomach but Wrigleyville South's Chicago...
