This is “my” Harbor Freight! I’ve been to most of them across the entire West & East valleys. This is not the closest HFT to my house- but the one I choose to go to. The store is clean enough, (it’s a hardware store not a hospital supply!) the staff is on point & they stick to the hours- by not closing early or unnecessarily rushing you out before closing time.
They do run out of the “sale” items often - which is a pet peeve of mine, but in my opinion, that’s no fault of the customer service employees. They do what they can & always tell you when the next delivery is coming- to “hopefully” restock the items you missed out on. . Most of the employees are very helpful & almost all of them recognize & acknowledge their regular customers. There’s a couple (only 2 that come to mind: 1 male manager & 1 relatively new female cashier) that are not on the level of excellence that the rest of the staff shares- but overall the customer service is fantastic. Sometimes women in retail aren’t that nice to female customers for no particular reason (other than past experience I’m sure!) but that is not the case in this store. The cashiers are mostly women- they are knowledgeable about their product location & availability, they are efficient yet friendly- even when I show up at 2 minutes to “close” (I do sincerely apologize!! Lol) and they do not give me a hard time about my returns. (I’m a serial over-killer... I always buy way too much of everything) The receipts are accessible through my phone number - so I don’t have to keep track of them- as long as I know where (easy, 95% of the time is at that store!) & approximately when I made the purchase - they are able to find it within my account. I love that.

Read moreSad way to treat long time customers. I have shopped at HFT for over 20 years and spent thousands of dollars over that time. On 8/15/21, I received a coupon for 30% off Thunderbolt Edge batteries. This coupon was different from the normal coupons, in that it stated "No Exclusions" and "limit one COUPON per customer". Nothing was written that stated a limit on quantity. I asked my wife to use the coupon to buy 13 packages of batteries which she did. Upon her return, I checked the receipt and the clerk applied the 30% discount to ONE package only. Full price on the remaining 12. I went back in to the store on 8/26/21 with the coupon, my receipt and all the unopened battery packs. I explained my situation to the manager Sandy. She pointed at the coupon, where it read "limit one coupon per customer" and said it was rung up correctly. I replied that the coupon does not state a quantity limit and clearly states "No Exclusions". She looked at me, said sorry and basically walked away. The irony of all this was that the batteries had gone on sale for about the same price as the coupon price. Sandy never once mentioned this or acted like she cared. Never asked if I was an inside track member, which I am. Never bothered to look at my purchase history. All she seemed to care about was winning the argument about coupon verbiage. I like HFT. Have for a long time. But it's people like Sandy that will cause HFT to lose loyal customers for life. In the end, I was able to receive a partial refund due to the current sale. It's not about the money so much, as it is customer service. My decision to shop HFT stores again will depend on how they respond to this...
Read moreAvondale AZ HF has an exceptional employee who goes beyond to give 100% Cust Serv and it is Charlie S. Being a woman this store can be intimidating and I needed worry free tires for my deflated cart and wheel barrel. The shelves were empty which was upsetting because this was my 3rd visit and shelves were not restocked. As I was asking for help I received a story “those items fly off the shelves”. Charlie was coming up to the cash register and heard my issue and said come with me. He took me to the back where bags of tires where stored . He started going thru them and helped me find exactly what I needed.
I returned again because my cart had the tires fused and Unremovable. I returned the tires prior and I had to buy a cart and I asked for Charlie. Charlie came up and I explained and upon looking there were the carts were the one I needed was not present. Again we went to the back and he retrieved exactly what I was looking for. A cart/dolly to use upright or laying down. He put it together for me while another associate stated Charlie you can’t do that! He replied yes I can there are new rules in place. When he completed I noticed it had tires with tubes and asked him to replace them with worry free tires. He did this gladly and I was ecstatic to receive Charlie’s assistance.
This person was exceptional in giving 100% customer service and I’m going to ensure I spread the word of his skills in making sure the customer is satisfied with their purchase and excellent service Dianna...
