La Michoacana Supermarket — Local services in Balch Springs

It's a new store, they're doing renovations, they'll be awesome one day, so nobody should give them a hard time right now.

Their al pastor was AMAZING, and their vegetables were great. They have pan dulche. I'm excited that they're in the neighborhood! It's a MILLION times better than the last place.

They had a prepared desert, creama with fruit, right in front of the checkout, and it was fantastic. I've never seen that at the other Michocana. They have all the same prepared salsa selections as well, and they have...

I like that it's nearby... but... Prices are pretty high. In addition it's turning into Walmart of sorts. The checkout lines are getting long not because they're super busy... but because there's usually only 1 person doing the checkout. This morning however, (22-Mar-2025) There was no one ready to check me out... they were busy carrying on out of sight of the register. I didn't have much... and I went early (approx. 6:15 am) hoping to avoid waiting for too long. It was worse... no one to...

Apparently this La Michoacana won't be reopening. It has been red-tagged by the City Of Balch Springs since January 23, 2024.

Nothing appears to have been done to remedy the problems of permits (they had none, according to the notice) or unsafe construction practices (also noted on the citation).

I think it's past time to call it finished. Over. ...
