Frankfurt Döner & Meats — Local services in Ball Ground

This is the best German butcher shop I have ever seen. Their sausages are a brand new experience. There is nothing in your standard grocery store that would even qualify as the same kind of food. Sausages here are much leaner and more flavorful than American offerings, such as Johnsonville. Try the blueberry brätwurst and the apple brätwurst. If you like spicy, they have a habanero peach brätwurst that is divine. I have tried about half of their sausages so far and have yet to find one that is lacking in quality. The sausages are made fresh in shop and they often change which sausages are made from day to day. When you come for the first time, they offer samples and I definitely suggest that you bring home some of each sausage so that you can discover new flavors and new favorites! Make sure you have an instant read thermometer to make sure you don't overcook the sausages and cook them to an internal temperature of 165°F. Overcooking sausages of this quality would rob you of a unique and wonderful culinary experience! If you have any questions about sides, ask the owner. She us friendly and knowledgeable. Also, she is German, so you don't have to worry about nonsense advice from people who aren't German and didn't grow up with the food.

If you want some sauerkraut, they have authentic fermented sauerkraut here that tastes much better than the tart vinegar pickled varieties that you see in most grocery stores.

If you like bologna, try the leberkäse. It is a similar product, but much more flavorful and of much higher quality. Frankfurters are likewise a similar concept to hotdogs, but of much higher quality and flavor. They are probably the sausage that once inspired the creation of the hotdog. There are a lot of options to make special hamburgers at cookouts, but hotdog lovers are often stuck with the same boring hotdog. If you want something special for the hotdog lovers at your cookout, try cooking up some frankfurters, instead.

This place makes the town worth a stop on your way through, but make sure you're doing it on your way home (and bring a cooler) because you'll want to pick up some delicious, beautiful smoked chops, bacon, and fresh brats to take with you and extend the magic. We like to eat at the other spots in town, too (Ball Ground Burger Bus is another personal fave), but the döner is ALWAYS on our must-do. We usually leave Ball Ground feeling very full. Worth it. Frankfurt Döner is on the main street of town tucked away in an unassuming little shop with some small tables outside on the street (no seating indoors), but eating outdoors is great bc the town is playing music that is just piped out into the street. It's delightful. Grab a döner to go, and split it with a pal. Carry your brown paper bag of happiness a short walk south down the street, and you'll find some picnic tables too. You'll be well situated to get your 2nd course and some beers from the burger bus. :) The döner sandwich is incredibly delicious. Try anything you want, but listen, you must get a döner. It's similar to an gyro, but it's not that. It's something more. I'll add photos, but know my words and these pics are not enough. The bread is the perfect toasty, chewy texture and the portions are generous. Is this red cabbage quick-pickled? Is the fresh tzatziki running down my arm? I don't know. Do not pass this place up - it's a real treat! We pass through this little area of Ball Ground often and had stopped at the famous Burger Bus which is an experience eating on an actual bus... BUT family told us to give this German place a try and we are hooked. Several small restaurants in this area - but this one is an authentic treat! Real warm German potato salad, excellent selection of German prepared meats (including sausages/bratwurst/knockwurst/weisswurst/debritziner, schnitzel, german bologna, landjaeger and liverwurst) and HUGE sandwiches (reuben, diner, chicken salad, veggie, grilled cheese). The mother and daughter team in this place are so genuine - speak German, friendly and rightfully proud of their restaurant. SAMPLES offered the minute you walk in the door with lots of information about their meats. Not much area inside to sit (I think there are 2-3 small tables) - but there are tables just out front or it's great to take your food outside to eat on the public picnic benches in the area and by the local park or 'to-go'. They also have PRE-PREPARED meals in their refrigerator to buy and take home to warm up. EXCELLENT option! Lots of fresh baked goods too! They close early (Hours ar Tues-Sat 11am-7pm and Sun Noon-5pm... closed Mondays) - so probably not a going-out-on-the-town for dinner place, but excellent for lunch or early...
