We visited Cato’s recently while my husband was buying me and my daughter some clothes and a coat. Unfortunately, our experience left us feeling uncomfortable and embarrassed. The cashier checked every single bill we paid with, even one-dollar bills—and did it again on our second order. I watched closely, and she did not do this with the customers in front of us. When I asked if they get a lot of fake money, she said they never have but that it was “policy.” If that’s truly the policy, it should apply to everyone equally.
