We went here today looking for guinea pig cages. We couldn't find them at first. While I walked around the store my husband asked a worker there if they had guinea pig cages big enough for 3 adults. He showed them where they store the cages, above the fish? That doesn't even make sense. He tried to sell him a cage made for mice and small hamsters, ensuring him that the 3 adult guinea pigs would fit in a cage built for mice and hamsters. The only guinea pig cage they had was a "starter" kit full of unnecessary items that cost $80. The only thing good we found there was a Pigloo and it was $7, but Walmart doesn't carry them so we took it. I had to stand at the register for a few minutes waiting on someone to check me out, when she finally arrived she was friendly. Didn't offer me a bag for my item but it wasn't a huge deal. Service didn't bother me that much but it wasn't what I'd call "good".
Just make sure you don't come here for advice on your small animal. The man my husband talked to didn't even seem to know what a guinea pig was. Back when they sold guinea pigs, I bought one there and they sexed it incorrectly. I had to pay a high vet bill to get the male (NOT FEMALE) guinea pig fixed a few weeks later so he didn't get my female pregnant.I don't think I'd even trust the works with advice about dogs or cats.
PetCo is great if you have a dog/cat. But if you have anything other than that, prepare to be disappointed. This store was so much better back when they sold small animals other than mice and the occasional hamster. What happened to the ferrets, guinea pigs,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was extremely disappointed in my experience here today. I made an appointment for dog training at 12. However, no one arrived to the dog training section by 12:15. I went to grooming who told me that dog training was located where I had previously been waiting. I then went to the front checkout and told the cashier my situation. She then had the other cashier come speak with me, who I hope was not the manger because he was very rude. I told him that I was waiting for dog training but that no one was there (at this point it was 12:23). I told him that I would need my money back if the trainer didnāt show up in the appointment time. He told me āI understand, but heās going through a lot so Iāll text him and see what happensā. And then he walked away! He didnāt say anything like āIām sorry for your inconvenience, let me see how I can fix itā. HE ACTED LIKE I WAS THE INCONVENIENCE. While it is nice that this employee was empathetic to the dog trainer situation, there was absolutely no customer service provided. This was so unprofessional on the part of the dog trainer and employee. I waited until 12:30 and left. WE WILL NOT BE BRINGING OUT DOG TO THIS STORE FOR ANY SERVICES AND WILL NOT BE GIVING ANY BUSINESS IN THE FUTURE. This situation needs to be addressed so that your store does not continue to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI meant to post this review right after it happened, but it's been busy. I just drove past Merritt Creek and it reminded me. I just wanted to say kudos to the young man who was running the front of the store. A customer came in very aggressive saying that he was shorted two crickets. He insulted and threatened the employee as he was trying to help him get the correct order. The employee went to to get another coworker to deescalate the situation and was followed around the entire store being demeaned and threatened, with the customer eventually physically touching the employee trying to instigate a fight. The employee kept it together and told him he was not welcome back in the store. I asked if that customer was serious as I was being checked out, the employee said unfortunately he was. The kid deservers a raise for not beating the breaks off that dude! He was super kind and respectful to me, and even offered to help me carry my...
