Couple reasons why I give this place only two stars. Two of my family members have had a membership at BG Fitness for years now. It had not been used for quite some time until this past year, when one of them decided to start going more often. We called months ago to ask who was still on the account/membership (since we thought our dad cancelled one of them) and we were told only my mom was still on it. However, we still kept getting billed for two accounts, so my dad went into BG fitness again and asked to cancel my mom’s membership. My sister, who was also on the membership, had still been going to the gym frequently for about a year, and she was supposed to be the only one on it now. But, my dad noticed the other week, that we were STILL getting charged for two memberships! Finally, he went in with his bank/visa statement and the previous yellow cancellation receipt (to show proof that we had cancelled and were still getting billed) and cancelled BOTH of the memberships because we were so tired of having to deal with this. This was literally the 3rd time in the past couple years trying to cancel one of the memberships. Now hoping to find another place where the billing isn’t so screwed up—doesn’t sound like this is anything new for BG Fitness either. My other reason for giving BG Fitness two stars is because of the employees. Overall, even though it’s a small gym, it’s nice to have one so close to home and it’s very clean and the equipment is great. With that said, it’s disappointing to go to a gym where the staff members are so unfriendly. My sister always felt like she was being stared/glared at by employees, as if she was doing something wrong...I heard her complain about this multiple times until I finally went in for a free trial to see for myself to find that she wasn’t wrong. The staff did not seem friendly at all, and please tell your younger male staff member—I don’t remember his name (I believe he’s a trainer?), that it is completely innapropriate and unprofessional as an employee to walk up to other women (who they do not know and are not clients) at the gym and ask for their number and hit on them. If someone were to do this who was, let’s say, a doctor or counselor or what not, they would be fired without a doubt. Besides that, women already feel uncomfortable and anxious enough as is going to the gym (not that some men don’t), and asking for their number just makes it worse. The gym is no place for that, especially, ESPECIALLY when it is an employee. Hate to say it, but this interaction with that employee and others, is definitely a pretty big part of why we will no longer be associating...
Read moreThis review is for the best trainer ever … Jordan Gard at Battle Ground Fitness in Battle Ground, WA. I would first like to say that Battle Ground Fitness is a great gym … have been going to BGF for almost 2 years - super friendly staff, clean, good equipment, and encouraging environment/members. So high marks for the gym as well!
Now on to my trainer review: I have been training with Jordan for a while now, and my results have far exceeded any hope or expectation I had going into it. In less than a year, I had not only lost all the weight I had hoped to lose and then some (nearly 80 pounds), but he also helped me build more muscle and get far leaner than I have ever been! Jordan is always quick to deflect credit to me for my own efforts, but it was his encouragement and positive attitude that helped me realize that this was something that I COULD do. I have worked with other trainers in the past, and none of them came even close to the caliber of trainer that Jordan is; he is in a league all his own … he is PHENOMENAL! He provides excellent training and nutrition planning that produces incredible results and has a real passion for all things fitness, which is inspiring and makes training so fun. He genuinely cares about his clients and dedicates so much time, effort, and encouragement to ensuring our success. He is really informative and promotes doing things the healthy way. I absolutely love training, being fit, and eating healthy … it has been a complete lifestyle change for me. If you are ready to make a change and are willing to work for it, no doubt you will see great results with Jordan. I cannot recommend him...
Read moreMy son who is developmentally delayed (disabled) was a member there for 12 years, and when he tried to cancel his membership Jeff Phipps bullied him to the point he froze his account. He asked me to come with him to help him the next time because he was nervous about being treated so poorly. I did and Jeff was there and just as rude as he described. We told him that he wanted to cancel his membership and Jeff informed my son that they would be charging him one more time because a person has to give 30 days notice. We explained that his next payment wasn’t until March and that is well in advance of 30 days, and Jeff said he didn’t care that he had to pay. So I asked him since my son was a 12 year member if he could waive the last payment and he said he could, but he wouldn’t because he had to make a living and just couldn’t waive everyone’s fees. I said you should do the right thing because he was a long time member, and he said nope he wouldn’t do it. So I said I’ll write a review online and let people know how you treat disabled people; and Jeff Phipps said “if that’s what makes you feel good go ahead.” So, I am. Watch out for this place they only care about money not...
