Update to my review: I understand it would be costly to reprint menus to reflect previous charges that I mentioned were not on the menu. I am very happy to say that the customer now has a printed copy of extra charges posted under the glass at each table. Thank you to the owner for making the change so we all know exactly what we expect to pay.
Update to my review: Today 12/6/23 3:30pm So was really curious if my concerns were correct regarding up charges and the pot of tea charge. I went to the restaurant and viewed the menu, absolutely NO mention of a $2 charge for asking for rice wrap instead of fried rolls on appetizer #5 nor was there any mention of a $2 charge for a pot of tea. I then asked the owner where the drinks are posted on the menu, they aren’t she replied. Ok, then where on the menu does it say that you will charge me $2 for my request of rice paper wrap vs fried? It doesn’t she said. I told her that it should be posted or on the menu because she’s being fraudulent. So, FYI. And as I stated in my previous post, the food was delicious, it’s just sad that they have to deceive people by up charges this way.
*BE AWARE of additional charges. I first visited this restaurant with 4 friends. My second visit was by myself for lunch. I ordered from the appetizer section the #5 which included 2 chicken skewers, 2 salad rolls and 2 fried rolls. I didn’t want fried rolls so I asked if I could have 2 salad rolls instead. Simple swap I thought, it cost $2 for that request. When they ask you if you want a pot of hot tea? $2 charge, which then I reflected back to the day I was with my friends and we shared one pot of tea. How was that divided? Whose bill was that put on? Or was it split between 4? Or did we All pay $2? THE BILL RECEIPT: Nothing is itemized. Just a total of what you owe. So, my appetizer was $13.95 and my total was $19.95? Should have been around $14 + tax, So I asked if tax was $5? Nope. That’s when I found out about the $2 charge for a pot of tea and a $2 charge for the swap of fried rolls to the rice wrap rolls. Also, CHECK YOUR BILL. Ask what ALL Charges are for and to see an itemized receipt 🧾 In their defense I did not look to see if it was posted somewhere or written on the menu regarding exchange requests or the pot of tea? They did remove it from my bill saying that this is only a one time thing and I would be charged in the future. So, expect that any substitutions or a Pot of tea will cost you an additional $2. The atmosphere was your typical storefront establishment and the food was delicious. Good portions. Just sharing so...
Read more3 stars because I left full, other than that it would be two stars. I went there Wed 14/12/16 around 230 pm with my girlfriend for lunch. It was her first time there. She loves Golden Tusk Thai, I enjoy this place. So it took some convincing, but we went here.
They lost one star for their service. It was very quick, but the server was not able to recommend anything or describe their products on the menu. At first it was not a big deal, but then she gave the impression that she just wanted us to give her a dinner combination number. Not explicitly rude, but just trying to get an order, any order regardless if that is what we were looking for.
Next came product availability. This is for the beverages especially. When I go to an ethnic restaurant, I tend to expect ethnic food and drink is available. Especially if it is advertised. When asking about what types of tea they had, she only said Thai iced tea. Which is very good, so we asked to order that, but she told us that the person who makes it wasn't there. So we could not order it. That's fine, a big deal. Half way through my girlfriend saw a sign that was hand written advertising their boba/bubble tea. When our server came back, we asked what flavors were available, and the server said " they are on the sign." OK, like thanks but I'm asking you for a reason Lady. Anyways she then said that nobody was there who could make it, so that tea was unavailable. Two signature drinks unavailable. Water is healthier anyways.
Lastly, they jumped on the "pho" popularity train. They advertised that, so naturally I ordered it. Well I'm pretty disappointed with it. The broth itself was not bad, but it was lacking some body to it. The meat itself seemed to be the beef strips and a sausage of some sort. It was fairly scarce throughout the soup. The noodles were overcooked and treated a little off. Basil, lime, jalapeño and sprouts were very fresh and tasty though. Very good on that. But I was missing cilantro, fish sauce and hoisin sauce. The noodles needed it.
Overall, my gf was happy with her dish, I was OK with mine. $10 for that bowl of pho will not be a mistake I make again. The mall pho is cheaper and just taste like more love and care is put into their product. So 3/5 stars. I will just go to the other Thai...
Read moreI phone ordered take out, ready in 15 min. Service was prompt on a busy night 4 other people were waiting patiently for their food with smiles all around. Service was on point! Smiles, greetings, and prompt! Asked my name, retrieved my food and exchanged payment perfect! I tipped well! I was impressed! Tables were clean with white table cloths under glass sheet. All of this was a 4-5 rating!
Food on the other hand was disappointing. A 7 minute drive home, food was still hot when I opened the styrofoam clam shell. I ordered Chicken PadThai. The presentation was beautiful! Peanuts in the corner, veggies throughout, carrots, red cabbage, green cabbage, bean sprouts, and green onions! Beautiful! Taste…. Where was the taste? It had none! On the menu it said “medium” I thought that was spice, and that’s how I expected it. There was zero spice. Noodle texture was extremely oily. (Heavily bathed in the slippery, oily stuff!) The most flavorful bite was a piece of green onion in the meal!
I was Soo hungry and sooo disappointed!
It was as if I ordered fancy rice noodles covered with fluff and tasted just like oily white rice.
In the end I like to give people benefit of the doubt, I will go back. They have great reviews, I am sad my experience was not similar to the 5 star ratings. Next time I will be sure to order my food specifically with spice, and ask for a lime...
