Must be under new management! Spent an arm and leg at this place for my entire family for years Because in the past they’ve always done a great Job. I support small businesses. This one I will not ever again! Had highlights done this past September- they looked great! Went back for a root touch up for the highlights they missed the first inch from the scalp all over the entire head. Also, had the hair blown out. Called the next day, to let them know it needed to be corrected. Gave me an appt I showed up for but they booked someone else at the same time, told to come back two days later. They fixed the highlights, but REFUSED TO BLOW IT OUT AGAIN! First it was at an extra charge, I’m sorry the hair had to be rewet to redo the highlights.... so not something that was done on our part. The blow out lasts up to 3 weeks. Then they said they won’t do it because they fixed the highlights and that was their only responsibility! I’m sorry I paid for all of it and got not even a week of a blow out. They should be ashamed to let a customer leave your establishment not looking or receiving what they PAID for! Then their teeny bopper manager started to get loud - she needed back up from the guy hanging around in the background. Funny he was a tool when he was my neighbor.. and true to himself still is. Save your money and go somewhere else.... more people these days understand Spanish then you think. Be careful of the words in any language that come out of your mouth. **Here is the timeline to be sure there is no confusion on your end. 1.) 3/17/21 Root Touch Up of Highlights charged $180 were done in multiple blonde shades (original hair color is black), along with a cut and blow out, $90. = $270. That same day I also paid for another family member for a wash and blow out and tips, totaling at $100.The stylist offered to stay late to finish the highlights/blow out - very generous of their time and they were tipped to compensate for it. The style that night was complete which was parted down the middle/hair to the face. Looked great and I said so. Two days later on 3/19 when the hair was pulled back into a ponytail away from the face for the first time since the work was done, the highlights throughout the entire head didn't start at the scalp but at least an inch from the root. The Manager was called and spoken to over the phone and I explained the highlights needed to be corrected. These highlights were first done by the same hair dresser and started at the root 8 months prior with no issues at all 2.) The contact made with the Manager was on that following Monday 3/22, Sat I was unavailable and the place is closed on Sundays. I spoke directly to the Manager explained that the highlights needed to be redone and start from the root and when would the best time for an appt. 3/23 was the set appointment, when I arrived I had to show and tell 5 people about it and then was told I had to make a third appointment because they wanted to look at it first and booked another client for that time. plus the hair dresser was off the next day so I had to come back in 2 more days. When I spoke to the Manager on 3/22 I was pretty clear I was making an appointment to have it corrected - if I was just coming by...why would I need an appt. 3.) Third appointment is set for today, had to wait 30 minutes for the appointment that was supposed to start at 4 and at 5:30 when only coloring was added along some of the hairline was done I was told there was no time to blow it out. 4.) Ok, that's fine when do I need to come back to have the hair completed? Then told it was at a charge 5.) A charge? I paid for a service that needed to be redone, and the blow out was ruined when the highlights needed to be fixed. 6.) Blow outs last 2-3 weeks, Where is the other 2 weeks of a blow out I paid for? 7.) Being loud and rude with your customers and speaking about how the conversation was over because your not going to keep saying the say thing is where the issue lies. Ha! The stylist will keep this place going because the new Management...
Read moreMy hair is thin, frizzy, and curly. Not many people know how to handle Caribbean hair, so when you go to a Dominican-owned salon, you expect to get a Dominican hair blowout. However, only one stylist knows how to handle this hair type in this place, and she is overworked. Getting an appointment with Maria is nearly impossible unless you book weeks in advance. Even if you arrive early or on time, you still have to wait well beyond your appointment time, so appointments are useless, and if you change your mind about what you are getting done on your hair, you might lose your appointment spot. Every second of Maria's day is occupied so they will book you during her lunchtime. My appointment was at 2:30, and my hairstylist said, "I haven't eaten lunch today." Imagine the guilt I felt knowing this lady was being so overworked while the entire salon was empty on other stations, but she had a line of people waiting for her. Whenever I let another stylist do my hair, I end up with burnt hair, semi-wet hair, uneven hair, or the wrong color match. So, believe me when i say i have given them a chance. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.
Sadly, I used to visit this place faithfully even before they relocated. My honest advice for the new owner is to hire a more talented stylist so your entire business doesn't rely on one person. This is advice from another business owner.
To the Ower: Sir, none of the things you said below happen; you are lying or confusing me with another client. I had my hair done and was happy with it, even though your prices are crazy. What I am not happy with is the way you guys are overworking Maria. She won't say anything because she depends on her job.
To Maria, girl, open your own place, and we will follow...
Read moreI called in to get my daughter a wash and set for the first time.. they told me it would be a starting price of 40$ then go up depending on length.. my daughter is 7. Her hair is not that long. They set me up with Gladys who was a nice lady, they were so surprised at how easy it was to blow dry my daughters hair because of the texture they said other people with this texture usually take an hour buy my daughters blow dry was done under 15 mins. They kept tryna push me to cut her ends and buy leave in conditioners but I didn’t want any.. cool the price at the end was 80$ I asked why because my daughters hair isn’t long they straight up told me it’s because of the type of hair she has. I found that to be racist but I wasn’t going to argue.. they then told me they’d wrap it for her in a doobi another 5$ per Bobby pin I said no I’ll do it myself but when I went to get my wallet and come back they did it anyways I told them to take it out. I was still charged 85$ I asked why they said there is an extra charge for paying with your card.. I told the receptionist that that is something you should mention before taking my card. I feel like they snuck in the extra 5$ for the doobi.. the receptionist caught an attitude with me and I wasn’t feeling her energy nor the fact that they charged my baby extra because of her hair texture. Caribbean and black hair comes in many different textures. I don’t believe prices should vary based on that. It just seemed racist and shady to me the way she said it and the attitude she gave me. I’ll never go back there and I’ll be sure to make a tik tok video on this as well. My daughters hair was left oily and looked like a terrible job she can’t tell because she’s 7, but I can and...
