I visited this location for the second time and had a great experience. After my positive experience during my first visit, my wife was willing to try and she loved the food. This time I ordered the Gypsy Mixed grill platter which is a combination of kofta, beef and chicken kebob along with rice and salad.
Food was delicious and the platter was big enough for both of us to share. Keep that in mind because they also offer boxes which are smaller platters and are enough for one person. In addition, we got complimentary falafel which was also very tasty along with tahini and garlic sauces.
Staff is always friendly and the order was accurate and ready on time. I’ll definitely be back! Note that their website isn’t up for Bayonne orders yet but you can navigate and check the menu and you can either call them to order or order via Uber eats.
** Original review:
I placed an order through Uber Eats, had a positive experience and enjoyed the food. They still need to make some minor improvements in order to be a 5 star restaurant but I’m sure they’ll get there.
Per Uber eats, they open at 10am so I placed an order around 10:20am and arrived at the estimated time of 10:35am. The front door was closed and the order wasn’t ready at that time. I waited around 10 minutes and the attendant, who was polite and friendly, came outside to bring my order. This is acceptable since they’ve recently opened the Bayonne location and are still making the final adjustments.
The food was tasty, especially the 4 falafel balls which were included complimentary for orders above $15 as well as the Beef Kabob which was delicious and very tender. The portion for the box isn’t too big and the container the Beef Kabob came in is somewhat shallow but it’s enough for 1 person but keep that in mind in case you like big portions (in that case go with the platter = bigger/pricier). Also, they did not include the hot pita as described in the menu.
Despite a few minor issues overall I was satisfied and happy with the food. This is a nice addition to Bayonne restaurants. Once I try other menu items I’ll...
Read moreI found this place on Instagram. I had no idea they were right here in Bayonne! I’m so glad I stumbled upon them. I originally came in just to try their falafel, but ended up walking out with way more food than I planned (no regrets).
As soon as we walked in, the staff greeted us with such a warm and welcoming smile. I ordered the falafel like I had planned, and while we were waiting, the manager, Adam, came out with two small sample cups of their lentil soup. That simple gesture really stood out to me, I instantly felt the hospitality and genuine care. The soup was so good that I ended up ordering a large one to take home.
A few minutes later, Adam came out again, this time offering us samples of their meat, chicken, and lamb/beef. Each one was flavorful and perfectly cooked and you guessed it, we ordered a large mixed rice platter to go too. 😆 We were honestly impressed with how good everything tasted. I had to tell him “No more samples please." Hahaha and we all laughed. You could just tell they really love what they do and take pride in sharing it.
My husband and I both absolutely loved the food. The flavors, the portions, and especially the hospitality, you can’t beat that. Everyone there was so friendly, genuine, and welcoming. It’s rare to find places that make you feel that valued as a first-time customer. We’ll definitely be coming back to try more of their...
Read moreTL;DR: Incredible flavors, generous portions, and fresh ingredients. Best falafel I’ve had in town. More details below.
First time ordering from Gypsy Grill and I’m blown away. I placed my order through Uber Eats, and even though the delivery came by bicycle (which made the falafels arrive a little colder than I’d like—not the restaurant’s fault), the food itself was phenomenal.
The falafels were hands-down some of the best I’ve ever had and that’s saying a lot given how many Egyptian/Middle Eastern spots we have in town. Even cooled down, the flavor was spot on. 🎯
I also tried the Kebda platter (liver), which I know probably isn’t the most popular dish, but wow. It was tender, flavorful, and served in a generous portion that could easily feed two or stretch into dinner and lunch the next day. 😋
Finally, the feta salad really impressed me. I love that they let you add cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions, so it feels customizable and fresh. The dressing on the side tied it all together perfectly. 😎
Overall, Gypsy Grill absolutely delivered. I’ll definitely be ordering again, and this spot is already locked into our regular rotation. I just hope they keep up the same high quality I...
