I went to Gulfside in Nederland and found out I had a wisdom tooth that was infected and needed to be extracted. I was put on antibiotics and pain meds and referred to the oral surgeon in Beaumont. I received a phone call about a week later stating even with my insurance it was going to be close to $700.00 for the surgery. I asked about the supposed payment plans they have. Was told about care credit, which I do not qualify for. That was the only payment plan offered. I asked if I could put 1/2 down and have my bank account put on file so they could auto charge. Was told that was not an option. Payment in full was so due on date of surgery. I went ahead and scheduled for 6 weeks out to allow time for me to save the $700.00. I finished my initial antibiotics and pain meds. Had tobe placed on another round of antibiotics because I got another infection prior to surgery and the pain was severe. Keeping me up at night. They refused to provide anymore pain meds. Told me to take ibuprofen and Tylenol. Which I now have rebound headaches from due to being informed so long. The day of surgery which was rescheduled by the surgeon,so 2 months later, I signed all kinds of paperwork for sedation. It took 3 times for the surgeon that to get a vein. He gave me one medication, then another. Neither which sedated me. I expected gas or something more withal the paperwork I signed, but I was fully awake. The surgeon started pulling and digging and I felt everything! I was squirming in the chair and the assistant asked ifg I was feeling pressure, and I said No! It was PAIN! The surgeon then made a comment about my nerves on that tooth being superclose together, which is something the Nederland location knew and why they said I needed an oral surgeon. He said he didn't know even though they took a 3D xray in the office the morning of my surgery! At one point his tool slipped hitting my lip and causing my lip to be bruised. After everything , I was sent home with no antibiotics, no pain meds, and told once again to take Tylenol and Ibuprofen events ought I explained I had been eating them like candy for pain with little to no relief. A6 days laterI was back at the Nederland location for guess what, an infection. Where I was once again prescribed amoxicillin for a 3rd time in less than 3 months. Again, although in pain, no pain meds prescribed. If you need general dentistry, the Nederland location is great! If you need oral surgery, I would travel and go to someone else besides Gulfside...
Read moreIf I could, I would give them zero stars. When I called to schedule an appointment in early 2022, I asked for a specific dentist that was recommended to me. When I got there, I was assigned to a different dentist. I should have walked out then. I had to ask the dental assistant to put a mask on before she started working on me. She came back with an ineffective cloth mask. I went in for a slightly chipped tooth and was told I needed a crown. I asked if they could just bond it or fill it and the dentist told me he recommended the crown. They also told me I needed an extensive deep cleaning. I proceeded with the recommended crown on my front bottom tooth. I thought I would be in and out. The dentist did not take the time to explain the procedure to me, which is a multi-step procedure. As they were grinding my tooth down, the dentist didn't have the right tool, so he asked another assistant to bring him a different drill bit. The assistant did. Bare handed, no glove. Didn't seem like a sanitary practice to me. After the temporary crown was put on. I left and vowed to never go back and finish the work somewhere else. The office was very busy and seemed chaotic. That was another thing I didn't like about it. When I asked for my refund per my dental insurance company, Gulfside Dental told me I couldn't get a refund. I had to escalate the request through my insurance which took almost 6 months. Finally, the request was complete and I was able to go to another dentist office. Almost a year after the original ordeal, the new dentist told me they would have never recommended a crown on a front tooth. That bonding would have been suffice. They also said I had good teeth and didn't need a deep cleaning that takes 2 different office visits and additional money. The only reason I could think Gulfside Dental told me I needed all those things was for the money. That greed cost me a tooth. Now I have to deal with pain in my mouth on a regular basis. This crown journey has been very frustrating and was very unnecessary. I continue to regret the day I ever walked into...
Read moreIf I could give this dental office a 0 stars I would. I went in for an appt and my appt was at 9:00am and I got there and checked in on time. I had some paperwork to fill out. I turned my paperwork in and I sat there until 10 am. I was seeing people go in and come out and I'm still sitting there. Well I got up and asked the lady she looked down at her list and was like it will be a few more mins. I say ok I go sit for about 15 more mins and mind you my appt was at 9 am. Then they call me to the window to say I don't have insurance, and I'm like I have top notch insurance. The lady said well you don't have insurance do you wanna go ahead and pay the $75.00. I'm like Wat No I have insurance ma'am. I'm not paying out of pocket for something I know is covered. Well I went around to the checkout counter. and spoke with another lady, and she called the young lady that verifies insurance upfront and she was like yea umm they said they you don't have coverage. I spoke with a man with a foreign accent and they said you don't have coverage. At this time I was already on the phone with my Dental provider and and he asked if he could have their tax ID. I advised him that they are not going to give their tax information to me. So I handy the lady the phone. She spoke with the man, and he advised that I was covered and I did have dental insurance. My issue with this office is why was this not done on Friday. You called and made sure I was coming to my appt so why didn't you make sure my insurance information was taken care of. Then once it was verified I sat out in the lobby still didn't get called back until I finally said you know what I'm not going to keep sitting here waiting when I should have been next since my insurance was verified. I will not be returning to that office and I would not recommend this place. IT seems like when you come in there with a good insurance brand they don't know how to actually real insurance. I missed three hours or work and wasted a day of work....
