A couple of years ago, while getting partial impressions done by the dental assistant, I was advised, if I tended to gag, I might do so, as she did the upper impression. So, she advised me to breathe through my nose and wiggle my toes (which I thought was odd)...a distraction technique, I assumed. Even though I tried my best to do both, I did have a severe gag reflex, starting to throw up all of my lunch, I had eaten (right before coming to the appt)...and (to my shock) she told me, to just continue to breathe through my nose, as she continued to hold the tray in (advising me, she'd have to start all over again, if she took it out), as I continued to gag and throw up the rest of my lunch, dumping it all on the blue protective "bib" she had placed on top of my chest, before she began...(otherwise it would have surely gotten all over my clothes). When I left there after this horrible, traumatizing experience, I read up on how patients with severe gag reflex can be treated by the dentists, prior to procedures that can trigger a severe gag reflex, with a topical numbing gel/liquid in the back of the throat (especially) and other inside of mouth, to minimize this problem. I feel, this should have Definitely been offered to me, to minimize/prevent the severe gag reflex and throwing up, I experienced. No patient should ever have to go through that! Further, as I thought about it more, I do recall other dentists and ear/nose/throat doctors, I have gone to, through the years, applying a topical solution inside of my mouth and back of throat with a long "swabbed end" stick, to minimize the gag reflex, which worked. Additionally, I would have appreciated numbing my mouth, before the dentist started drilling in my teeth in preparation for where the partials would rest, which the first tooth, was especially sensitive to, even if it did mean "numbing my entire mouth". Other than the above significant concerns, all staff have been very kind and for the most part, very informative, regarding my care and recommended treatment plan. Additionally, I really appreciate the insurance lady giving me a very thorough explanation of all costs for all work relative to the dentist recommended treatment plan..and providing me with a copy of such. Also, I really do not like the "open" room concept...I could hear everything that was being said by dentist, staff and patients on that day, being treated in the "stalls" to both left and right of me, as well as, every time I have been there...no privacy. I have never been to another dental office in my long life with such a "stall" like layout. All others I have been to, have a 4 walled room, for each patient. *Would I recommend this dental office, Definitely...however, I hope my expressed concerns can be addressed, as well. Thank you for all considerations, of such...and for opportunity to give input here. š Update: I think I am allergic to metals in partial with bad reaction in my mouth...having started to wear them more regularly several months ago. Hope we can figure out the issue, when I got back in, in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI chose a DHMO from my insurance plan, I had the initial exam and cleaning on my first visit, not a problem, the second appointment was scheduled for 2 fillings and a repair on my front tooth. I have no issues with those visits. What I do have a beef with is what happened at the appt. I had today. In less than a week, the front repair chipped off underneath and I had to reschedule another visit to get this fixed again. Hey things happen. No biggie.
My appt. was at 9:30, I was 15 min early. They did an x-ray on my front tooth, not sure WHY? I didn't have to wait too terribly long to get inside to see the dentist, maybe 20 min. Also it took maybe 15 min for him to come to my chair, so not too bad. He asks me Mrs Simonson now what are you here for? I tell him the repair, and he taps the paper on the clipboard and says, "I'm going to put you on hold." When it dawned on me what he meant, he had already left the cubicle.
I initially thought that he had to get the things together to do the repair on my tooth. 35 min went by and a dental assistant came in and put a bib on me and left. Another 10 min go by and I get up and took the bib off and was putting it on the counter and the assistant walks in and asks if I am ok, and was I upset about the wait. I say no, I am upset because the dentist- Dr Thompson, told me he put me on hold and went to another patient. She says, let me go check, and I heard them talking- couldn't hear what was said but the dentist comes to the cubicle next to me and starts talking to the male patient there and that was the last straw- then I walked out. If he would have come to me and apologized or even filled me in on the reason I was having to wait, I may have been a little more understanding. I felt like a an animal being herded into the shoot and forgotten about.
You know, I don't mind having to wait a little bit, but sitting there and not even being told the reason you are being put "on hold", what is that anyway, like I'm on the phone, put me on hold? Wait, I made this appt for 9:30. Hey, Or how about: Would you mind if I....... Or I'm so sorry, would you mind if I ....... and given a reason. Where is the customer service? How about a little information? Don't just tell a person that you are going to do this or that. Everyone is busy and has things to get done, thus the reason for appointments. I was considering getting invisalign through Lovett, which my insurance wouldn't cover but unfortunately now they will not get my business. I will not go back to Lovett Dental in Beaumont, TX. nor recommend to friends and family.
Corporate needs to take a look at this location and get this Dentist some help. looked like he was the only one there, maybe that's why he was in such a hurry to make me wait, oh and also clean the place up, the inside needs a fresh coat of paint and a good scrubbing also the suction instruments were just sitting in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBy far the worst business Iāve ever been to. Please do not go there if you want your service to be appreciated.. the person who works the front desk obviously had no knowledge of how their process works and the head dentist or whatever was really rude who basically yelled at me for their lack of communication. So this was my experience.. I called last week to ask how much it would be for just a cleaning the lady over the phone itās gonna be $59 I said okay thatās fine make my appointment. So I left work early to make my appointment got there and before I signed in I asked the front lady how much it was going to cost for a CLEANING because I only had $70 and I didnāt want to get done and then I donāt have enough to pay them. She confirmed that it was $59 even for just a cleaning I said okay. I sat down did my paperwork and paid $60 cause they had no change. No problem. I went and sat down the dental assistants called me back for X-rays me not saying anything thinking itās just procedure after that the dr comes in saying need this this and that and I said okay but thatās for my next appointment right he said yes. He leaves and then another lady comes in to say okay if you can go have a seat up front to talk about the root canal prices.. I looked at her confused like I came here for a cleaning she said nope just a checkup I said no my appointment was scheduled for a cleaning so what did I pay $60 for and she says idk you can get a refund so Iām like okay but when I went to talk to the manager sheās like no you paid for X-rays and a exam I said no I came to get my teeth cleaned. She then pulled out a coupon saying this is what you got on the paper it say $59 for a exam cleaning and X-rays But since you had periodontal disease (which means I need a deeper cleaning) I couldnāt get a cleaning today and I had to pay 215 extra dollars in order to get my teeth cleaned. I then informed her that no one told me over the phone nor in person that If I needed a different kind of clean that I couldnāt get a cleaning for $59. I then said so I just paid 60 and I canāt get my teeth cleaning she then says very angrily āI can clean them but your gonna pay me $215 firstā at this point my blood at what point is it appropriate to speak to a customer in that manner especially when itās my first visit. I asked if I could get a refund she said NO, I will not refund anything and neither will corporate, we got your X-rays and thatās what you paid for. I walked out CRYING went to calm myself down came back in and tried to work something out only for her to deny my refund again or give me a cleaning.. horrible business I will never step foot in...
