Do not take the entry level handgun course.
Chris not only wasted our 3 hours of class time by complaining about politics and telling old stories, but the part that gets me is that he actively gave us incorrect information and skipped over multiple critical sections.
Look, I dont care about your political opinions. I paid $120 to learn how to safely store and operate a firearm. You and I could agree on every single law to the letter. I do not care. I paid you $120 to tell me how to safely store and operate a firearm.
Chris told us to keep our firearms stored LOADED (illegal) or with ammunition in the same safe. When I asked him specifically about this, he said we could "ask what ifs all day, but when it really matters, you don't have time to ask". I still dont understand what IS legal, because he clearly doesn't care and didn't tell me.
No, I'm asking because when I get home, I need to understand how to SAFELY and LEGALLY store my firearm, and I paid you $120 to tell me how to do this.
Not only this, but Chris belly laughed at the de-escalation portion of the presentation, stating "nobody ever calmed down by you telling them to calm down". If he bothered to even skim the slides he was presenting, he would see the slides agreed with him on this, and gave alternate techniques that can de escalate. Instead, Chris recommends we immediately use lethal force.
Chris also told us a story about how he brandished a weapon to some would-be robbers of his house. This sounds badass until you realize that brandishing a weapon when you are not threatened is also illegal. I'm no lawyer, so I asked why he was able to do this, if it matters that it was his house or not. He skipped the question.
He would randomly throw out terms without defining them, and joke about idiots who didn't understand. For example, how a cartridge is not a bullet, even though people call them bullets. Guess what! It's a beginner course! Don't joke about this, because I DONT KNOW.
Once again. I PAID for this. I dont want to hear your complaints about covid, gun laws, about how there are only 2 genders, or people defunding the police. I can watch fox news on my own time.
I paid to learn how to safely store and operate my firearm as a beginner. I won't be coming back...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was fortunate to find Bellevue Gun Club when I moved to the area and had the pleasure of taking a session with their incredible instructor, Adam K., and I can confidently say it was one of the best experiences Iāve had at a range.
The facility itself is top-notch. Clean, well-maintained, and spacious, with a variety of lanes that accommodate both beginners and experienced shooters alike. The atmosphere is relaxed, yet professional, making it an ideal place for anyone looking to practice or even get started with shooting. Safety is clearly a priority here, and the staff takes every precaution to ensure everyone feels secure and comfortable.
But what truly made my experience stand out was Adam K., the instructor. From the moment I walked in, Adam's knowledge, enthusiasm, patience, and ability to connect with students were apparent. Whether youāre a first-timer or someone looking to refine your skills, Adam has an amazing way of breaking things down in a way that makes it easy to understand and put into practice.
He was incredibly patient, offering both technical guidance and mental strategies to help me stay focused and improve my accuracy. He gave clear, actionable feedback that made a noticeable difference after just a short time. His calm and approachable demeanor made the experience feel not only educational but also enjoyable. Adam also made sure I was comfortable with every aspect of shooting, from the proper stance to the mechanics of the weapon, ensuring I was confident throughout the session.
Overall, Bellevue Gun Club is a fantastic place to train, and with an instructor like Adam K., itās a place Iāll definitely return to. If youāre looking to learn or sharpen your skills, Adamās expertise is truly unparalleled....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad a great fundamental handgun course with Sean Wise. Professional, knowledgable, great teacher, and extreme stickler about safety. I've been shooting for a long time, but mostly long gun, and in one short evening I picked up 3 important adjustments that made my pistol shooting 100% better the next day at the range. From my perspective he created a safe and inviting environment for new shooters as well as more seasoned shooters. Would definitely consider taking additional advanced handgun classes from him in the future, if not private lessons.
I also just had an amazing carbine fundamentals course with Erik Schmidt and Joe Whims. As they assessed skills in class they ramped up exercises. It was a great time and we ran a load of great drills and exercises, many of which I would have expected in an 8 hour to multi day class as opposed to a 3+ hour fundamentals course. I'd shoot again with Erik and Joe any day, and will definitely be following up with them for private lessons. Excellent instructors that made everything clear, safe, approachable, and achievable. Excellent attitudes from both of them!
Both fundamentals were great value for time and money, and will definitely cover what most new or occasional shooters would need, especially if they got out to the range to practice semi-regularly.
I would be remiss if I didnāt mention how helpful and patient Terrie has been with all of my questions about class details, equipment, and scheduling. She made it so easy to understand what to expect, what the next classes should be, and to get a feel for instructors I had no experience with! She made it super easy and clear to sign up...
