The food was alright depending on your expectations. If you want authentic experience (taste), then it's not the place to find it based on what I ordered at least. Gyoza that look and taste nothing like what I had at other Japanese restaurants including Japan. They didn't have a lot of flavor and some of them were broken with minor filling coming out. The dinner chirashi has rice that was overly sour (more vinegar that expected). Typically, the sushi rice should have a good balance where it's not too noticeable. I asked for a substitute for cooked shrimp such as salmon, but there was only 1 or 2 thin slices of salmon. Texture and taste of the tamago (egg) was poor. Firm and really sweet instead of the rolled layers of egg omelet that's light and normal level of sweetness. Never had fish cake in chirashi before (more typical with ramen or udon). Good portion of tuna, but it was slightly smushy so not that fresh. Hamachi (yellowtail) and unagi (eel) were alright. Not a fan of the surf clam either, but it tasted alright. Servers were nice and offered tea and water. Interior design was nice and had typical layout

After 10 years of coming here I'm sad to have had such a horrible experience. This has always been my #1 go to for sushi on the east side And even through the pandemic I have continued to order sushi to go In order to support their business. Unfortunately i feel that possibly the service has declined dramatically since their remodel a year or two ago... They used to greet you as you walked in & Everyone from the sushi chefs to the waitresses would say " welcome " ... Now they're all just standing around and will awkwardly walk up to you as if they're not completely sure why you're there.. Of the several times I ordered food to go My order was incomplete or had the wrong items in it but I wrote this off as just having been due to the stress of everything going on. One time I ordered to go it was 45 minutes late from the time they said it would be ready .. Then the last few times I've actually been in I've experienced rushed service or a complete lack of customer service altogether Even though I was usually the only one in... The prices also seem to have gone up dramatically which is shocking considering to have seen the customer service go way down.... And now Their new menus have changed as well and are totally confusing as The waitress hands you three pieces of laminated paper that you have to shuffle through , ( I get because of the pandemic You have to have menus that can be sanitized but at the very least they could be attached together and in some form of an order ?!!!? It also seems that they might Have switched the menus up and possibly removed some of my favorite long-standing options ? (Or we might not have found What we wanted because of the confusing set up with the menus?!?) In any event Don't go for the combo especially if you want the three pieces of nigeri sushi option because they will cheap out on you and only offer you "white fish" , ebi and one other option of choice ( Even though it says absolutely nothing about it being chef's choice on the menu) Also this visit The waitress was pushy and impatient even though there was no one else in the restaurant Which only added to the stress of trying to work our way through their stupid new menu set up. & Since I go in so often for the sushi alone , I haven't had to ask for menu because I knew what sushi I would be eating but This time my 16yo daughter wanted to order something And So I took the menu but then we had to actually ask for another menu since they only gave us one for two people ( Actually between the two of us there ended up being six separate menus since we each got three different menus and again they aren't attached to one another so it was all messed up and confusing) Unfortunately it seems that the last three times I've actually been in & sat down to eat it has been highly disappointing because of the lack of customer service & This is something I think you would have improve on if your business depended on it...?!? Anyway I wanted to give it a fair chance before I left a review but after the experience we just had ( We literally walked out after one bowl of miso Because it was so uncomfortable even my daughter said She didn't want to support the lack of service & I completely agreed with her .) So I'm now convinced that something special was definitely lost When they remodeled and it wasn't just the old decor there for We will not be...

They are a solid 3 star place to eat.

Service is always acceptable, but the quality has declined in recent years. If you're just looking for quick business lunch it is okay.

The main reasons I choose other restaurants first are: inconsistent quality of dishes / flavor inconsistent portion sizes inattention to food allergies

Do not expect the staff here to be able to cater to any allergy at all. This isn't intentional or malicious, simply a complete lack of awareness which makes it virtually impossible for me to eat here.

Every time my friends drag me here to eat it starts out the same: me: tekka don, I have a gluten allergy. Please send out only gluten-free appetizers for me. server: tekka don, I'll bring the gluten-free soy sauce miso soup & cucumber salad arrives me: there is imitation crab on this cucumber salad which contains gluten to which I am allergic server: there is no soy in it, it is safe me: I just informed you it is not, would you please bring me one that has not been in contact with imitation crab or other gluten ingredients? Also, is the miso soup safe? server: the soup isn't safe, feel free to give it to one of your friends, we aren't charging you for it. server brings another cucumber salad me: there are still bits of imitation crab meat in here server: that's just the sauce, the cucumbers aren't touching the...

Felt rushed to get out. Came here with a friend and was rushed to get our orders twice within mins of sitting down. I was taking my time to look through the menu but didn't even get all the way through yet. Was told that they wanted our order soon because they were close to closing. We got there 1.5 hrs before closing but thought - ok maybe Google hrs were wrong. Made my order but they were out of stock so the waiter then rushed me to order something else. Seriously, he acted like they were closing within 30 mins or something. So my food comes and it's tasteless or just deep fried oil flavor. Dipping sauce didn't help either and this was true for my friend as well. The miso soup had the slightest hint of bleach smell which makes me think the bowl had prob just gone through a strong bleach solution but don't think that'll affect my health so drank it? I'm not quite sure what was the cause but something made me very thirsty and a full 2 cups of water wasn't enough.

As we were eating, they continued to accept customers which was confusing since they tried to rush us out at 1.5 hrs. We finished the meal with more than 30 mins before closing. Anyways, if they felt the need to rush us through the meal so much why not just tell us this when we walked in?? We would've gone elsewhere. Overall a disappointment in food and service, will...
