My pets have been coming to this clinic for 8 years or so and we've been very happy. We've brought our cats and pet rats here, and they've all had generally good experiences aside from a few blips. I'll list some overall pros and cons below for anybody looking for a new vet:
PROS: -Dr. Bruce is knowledgeable and experienced with an array of different animals. For both minor and major issues with cats and exotic animals, we've been happy with his care of our pets. -The clinic is always clean, including the waiting area, appointment rooms, reception area and bathroom. -The pricing is better than many other vets in the area. Crossroads always gives you an itemized receipt breaking down the costs. There aren't any random junk fees that you'd see at some places, and the prices are consistent. -The location is convenient and there's ample parking near the door of the office. -Vets are accessible via email or phone for quick questions. They are always quick to give me a call back or shoot me an email when they have a few minutes and it is so appreciated!! Saves so much time and money not to bring the pets in for every little thing. -This clinic is practiced and effective with pets that are a little bit squirmy or a little bit aggressive. We have one cat who needs about 3 people to hold him for his exams; he likes to back up as hard as he can whenever he knows something is about to happen! It's very funny and the clinic is always prepared to throw a couple extra people in the room to hold onto the kitty :) We have another cat who's a little bit aggressive (has a red tag in his file and everything...cute but infamous), and the vet techs and doctors don't shy away from him regardless. They hold him and do what they have to do to give him the care he needs, but kindly. They were also able to set us up with some prozac to help with this little guy's aggression, and it's working beautifully. He seems so much happier. -The clinic has helpful products available to purchase at the front desk like hairball medications, flea treatments, and other things which can sometimes save you a trip to the pet store.
CONS: -The online pharmacy is not great. I'm so sorry to say it because it's not even the vet clinic's fault; it's the third party company they contract with, called Covetrus, which has been unreliable. -The clinic is having some trouble retaining staff over the past few years. I'm not sure why this is, could be due to general market conditions or the pandemic shuffle that happened throughout the professional world. -It has been harder to get same-week appointments in recent months, presumably due to the staffing shortages. -Certain parts of the practice are a little bit old school; the office doesn't have some of the diagnostic services on-site that some other vet clinics in the area have. This might bother you depending on your pet's situation or it might not, but for everyday care and exams this clinic is great. -Diagnostics of animals in general can be kind of vague. This is frustrating for us humans, because our pets can't tell us what they're experiencing. We've had a few moments where Crossroads didn't quite get it right, but we felt they were doing their best with the information they had and they pivoted their approach when it was indicated. -There is no online scheduling available; this could save everyone a lot of time if it was offered.
Long story short, Crossroads Vet is good in the ways that matter most. Anytime you see glowing positive reviews or scathing negative reviews for a place it feels like only a partial truth, so hopefully this is helpful as a well-rounded review from someone who has been a long-time client. Overall I would recommend Crossroads Vet to folks who are new to the area or just looking to...
Read moreI want to use my right to freedom of speech to warn others. This is not libel, or bashing. ALL information is factual.
Stay away if you love your pet. My dog died there in 2017. The clinic was sued and veterinary malpractice was confirmed by top expert. To me, shockingly unprofessional behavior, ignorance at finest, indifference and lack of compassion. Even though the vet Heather Hughes, who was taken care of my dog that day, and who had worked without renewal license, no longer at Crossroads Vet, same as assistants (just "kids" with high school diploma, none licensed), I still warn every pet parent do not trust this clinic blindly. I do believe, they will not fight for your loved one's life if something serious happens. What I learned, they do not value our fur kids life.
Ironically, I liked Dr Bruce before tragedy happened, and had chosen him after checked a few local vets, but what I found out during investigation and legal process, changed my opinion completely. He supported Heather Hughes, who committed malpractice, and made me feel stuck in the mud providing false info, blaming and accusing me trying to defense themselves.
PS: my previous review in 2017 was marked as funny by Crossroads vet employees. I deleted it. It was hard for me to handle it. The best defense is a good offense. It was so cynical since I have been suffering from PTS because of my fur kid death. It was funny for them knowing my poor dog was dying for 8 long hours bleeding all over, undue and exquisite suffering, while he was given prohibited meds, etc.
Go figure what kind of people might work at the clinic and who take care of YOUR pet. I lost my dog, but do not want other pet parents to experience what I did. No other innocent animal should suffer in incompetent hands of the vet who does not respect their life and feeling. You have...
Read moreI cannot recommend Crossroads Vet and Dr. Vlad enough! From all my years of experience with different vet clinics and doctors for my four cats, I have never had such a truly pleasant and reassuring experience.
I recently brought in two of my cats for appointments, and everything was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Dr. Vlad is not only extremely knowledgeable and professional, but also incredibly caring and compassionate. You can immediately feel that he genuinely loves animals and treats them with the same kindness and patience as if they were his own.
What makes this clinic stand out is that, for the first time, I felt like I wasn’t being pushed into unnecessary procedures or costs. Instead, Dr. Vlad focused on the solution that was best for my cats while being fair and mindful of expenses. That honesty and transparency mean so much to me as a pet parent.
One of my cats was in the final stage of cancer, and Dr. Vlad handled this heartbreaking situation with the utmost care. He quickly recognized the illness, explained everything clearly, and gave me guidance not only for treatment but also for when it would be time to say goodbye. He even suggested finding a vet who could come to our home when that moment arrived, so my pets could remain comfortable and surrounded by family. That level of compassion and thoughtfulness goes far beyond medical care—it shows true love for animals.
I am deeply grateful for his support, kindness, and expertise. If you are looking for a vet who combines knowledge with genuine care and integrity, I cannot recommend Dr. Vlad and Crossroads Vet highly enough. Your pets will truly be in...
