A small shop with spice mixes, varieties of popcorn, jams/jellies, kitchen knick-knacks, and Ice Cream. Heavenly Ice Cream.
We went there this evening because I had seen it mentioned on local social media, and figured that a warm summer evening would be the perfect opportunity to try it out. The store itself is located in Old Town Bellevue, a few minutes away from the Bellevue Bridge to cross over into Iowa. It is sandwiched between a computer repair shop on the one side, and a hair-stylist on the other. The majority of the floor space is devoted to displays of boutique food items, gourmet popcorn, jams and jellies, spice mixes, some cookware and items like hand towels.
Tucked away at the back of the store is the ice cream counter. There is a chalk-board listing the current offerings, which are all laid out in a freezer case. You can get a sample of any flavor you'd like, and order cones or cups of the flavors that you decided on.
I went with a scoop of Maple/Brown Sugar and a scoop of German Chocolate Cake in a waffle cone, my girlfriend went with Honey Lavender and Double Vanilla scoops in a cone. All four flavors were excellent, creamy and rich. There were shreds of coconut in my German Chocolate Cake.
There was no seating inside, but there were a couple of benches outside to sit on. We had to race the heat to finish off our cones before the heat melted them, it wasn't a problem.
Our rating? 5/5....
Read moreWe were greeted when we walked up with smiles and hellos! It was me and my 3 kids. Cute little shop with food items. But we went with ice cream intentions! Two kids got rootbeer floats. They downed those quickly! My third had a waffle cone with 2 scoops. Mint chip and Blue oat one (supposed to taste like the stuff left in fruit loops almost empty bag!) I had the ice cream nachos. It comes with 3 types of ice cream, I choose cappuccino, blue oat, and ask the server to give me her favorite or a fan favorite and she gave me black cherry lemon.) I should have taken a pic of the flavors. The black cherry lemon was my favorite! The nachos came with waffle cone chips and I chose Carmel over chocolate dipping sauce. It was sooo good! It was kind of big for just me. Next time I'll see if someone would share it with me. Excited to go back again. All three kids said they liked it and would go back. Love that we can support a...
Read moreIce cream was good but not made on site, as they're selling some other company's artisan ice cream. Thats fine, as they did make that known on the ice cream case, but Im including this as part of this review so that whomever is reading this is aware. A young girl tried to scoop our ice cream before another woman (manager? owner?) came out of the back, and shoo'd the girl away to scoop it herself. She was short and quite rude to the girl, in my opinion. She was also rude to my family as we waited for our ice cream. She never looked right at us, but barked that we "move out of the way" so she could serve the next in line. Her energy was unfriendly and dismissive, and not what I'd reasonably expect as a guest to a new shop. The rest of the staff was kind, and the store is pretty, but the vibes were way off. I do...
