Three French Hens used to have so much potential, but our recent experience left us feeling disappointed. The store is extremely overstocked on soap and candles — mostly from the same brand — and the way the products are displayed feels overwhelming rather than curated. The overall bath and self-care selection was quite limited given the shop's boutique vibe. It would have been nice to see more variety.
While browsing, we interacted with two sales associates. One of them was quite pushy and seemed more interested in forcing a sale than in having a genuine conversation, which made us uncomfortable enough to leave the items we were considering behind. She kept asking invasive questions, like "where do you live? What's your address?" This is none of her business and apparently is a pattern of hers. It seems like she asks this to determine someone's spending power, but it's really creepy and inappropriate. When she didn't get the answers she wanted, she drops the conversation and then shoved something else in our faces and demanded that we try it on. (For identifying purposes: woman, long wavy black hair.)
On the other hand, two other associates we spoke to were polite, helpful, and listened to what we were looking for without being overbearing — a much better experience.
The store also has a section labeled for Eileen Fisher, but not everything on that shelf was actually from the brand, which felt misleading.
That said, the pricing is fair for the quality, and the products themselves seem well-made. Unfortunately, the store's crowded layout and the uncomfortable sales approach left us with a negative impression, and we walked out...
Read moreDisappointing customer experience! I stopped in this lovely boutique shop in Fairhaven. I love a great boutique! It was 4:45 on Sunday and the only sales associate was vaccuming. Having spent many years in retail, that didnt bother me. I browsed the racks and when she was done, she asked if I needed help. I said I was browsing for something I couldn't live without and her response was..."we close in 10 min." To which I replied, "I hear you loud and clear" and walked out. I will NEVER go back. When retail shops want to blame the internet for their lack of business, they need to examine their own flaws first. If you are in the business to sell and service consumers they need to be number 1. I can find ANY of their high end product online by simply searching on the item/brand with many offering free shipping. Why would I shop a store with rude service? I pride myself in shopping local but when that fails, I go online. The fate of retail lies in what makes the in person experience...
Read moreThe lady working the store, I don’t know if she was the owner or not but I absolutely did not appreciate being treated like I was some sort of thief or having her hover over me when me and my family were shopping. Never going back again. Not to mention how expensive the clothes were. The moment I walked in the store I did not feel welcomed. I’m reluctant to say another consignment shop by the name of serendipity practically erased the horrible experience me and my family had at the three French hens. When I walk into any place of business I want to feel welcomed and well aided. And I’m happy to say I found all I was looking for at serendipity and would recommend anyone go there. Whoever that lady was at the store me and my family were not fond of her service at ALL. Won’t be spending my money there...
