Initially, I was going to give a one star review after my poor experience with YankeeDabbler today. However, this was my second attempt at purchasing items from them and the first time I did purchase from them it went very well. Therefore, I have decided to raise it to two stars.
I went to order a few paint colors from their website this afternoon and ran into an error processing my card payment. I tried a few times and, again, received the same error message. At this point I called and got hold of a gentleman named Bob. Bob answered relatively promptly and was quick to say that he had another customer on the other line and he would call me back. I was ok with this and made sure he had the correct number to reach me back on.
After getting off the phone with Bob and waiting some time I tried to process the payment again and again it failed. Fast forward six hours later to 9pm this evening and I get a call back from Bob. Immediately Bob lays into me regarding how many times am I going to try to process a payment that is giving me an error message. Being very put off be this immediate belittling, I attempted to reply and explain that I tried a few times thinking that I had received the error message on accident and following the prompt given to "try again later". Bob responded to this, in a not so friendly and somewhat superior tone, saying "you can try an incorrect payment a thousand times and it still will not work."
I inquired to Bob if he could tell me what may be causing the error message and he stated that the billing information given was incorrect for the card I was trying to use. I immediately pulled the website up and saw that he was correct that I had entered the incorrect address. No big deal, I enter the correct address and I am ready to complete my order. I tell this to Bob and almost refusing to believe me he says that he doubts it. I try to explain that I now see the mistake I made in entering the incorrect billing address and correct it. He still doesn't to believe me.
At this point I decided that I no longer want to conduct this transaction with Yankeedabbler and would like to end the call. I tell Bob I am going to try this and I should be all set. He say okay and we end the call.
This was an extremely frustrating call to receive later on the evening and was a great example of exceptionally poor customer service.
I will be taking my business else where to another online retailer, possibly in Illinois or Maryland.

Read moreI'll give it 4 stars but it really depends on the scale you're looking for. They had a lot of HO scale trains, a small to moderate amount of N scale which I was looking for, and a little bit of lionel that I saw.
They didn't have much N scale accessories. I purchased most of their N scale track they had out (maybe they had more in the back?). The N scale shelf wasn't organized at all. They had trains just stacked on top of each other in no certain order that I could tell. And honestly the biggest disappointment was that nothing I looked at had price tags on them. I went there to look (and possibly buy) but without knowing how much the stuff I was looking at costs I didn't want to bother them. I just got track. I was hoping to see an athearn big boy in stock since I'm looking to buy one but no luck.
I'm new to N scale (coming from G). And since this place is so close to home I wanted to love it. Maybe because of the holidays this isn't typical. I could tell they were swamped with getting orders out... which is also why I didn't want to ask about prices. I would have loved to have asked some questions as someone new to this scale. But I felt like I would have been a nuisance.
From my one and only experience I'd say I'm still looking for a local hobby shop with a good selection. The guys were nice enough but the disorganization and the products having no prices turned me off from returning for anything other...
Read moreHaving been to this shop several times, I can conclude this store is not worth your time or money. I live a little over 45 minutes away, but am willing to make the drive for a store that is worth it. Also being new to the hobby I chose visiting the physical storefront as opposed to online hoping to get some insight and ask questions before I invest. However, each time I visited this location there was not one person that said hello, asked if I needed help, or if I had any questions. Though I did hear the employees acknowledged to each other that a customer just walked in. Furthermore, the aisles are completely unorganized and unkept, things are just flung everywhere. One of my biggest gripes is that you can’t even see the N scale trains they have for sale in the cabinets. Each time I’ve been there, boxes were blocking my view and none of the case lights are on, and just like the aisles things are thrown all over the place. And more than that only some of the products in the store have an actual price marked on them. When I went to purchase something I waited at the counter for around five minutes, before I lost patience and had to walk around a look for someone to ring me out. Employees aren’t very friendly, and act like you’re not worth their time. I’ll take my business online and to the other better put together hobby shops...
