I purchased a leather chair and ottoman. At the same time I purchased a leather love seat. The chair and couch are excellent. At least the love seat is I should say. Less then a year after the purchase the base of the chair gave out. I paid around $700 for the chair and ottoman. I contacted the store,sent pictures and was told they would see what they could do. Then Covid struck. I could justify not contacting me that year. It's now been two years almost. I have stopped,called and left messages to see what was up. I never had a returned call. I was told when I went in that,"it was on the water". I tried calling Rob St. Michael only to be given the third degree by the lady who answered. I told her my problem and it was then was told he was out of town. No more then 15 minutes after hanging up I received my first call from the Bemidji store. The lady said she would contact the Vendor. That was three weeks ago and have not heard a word about it . The quality of the love seat is great. I'm sitting on it now. I have been in retail thirty years. I know nothing is being done and they hope I just go away. It's been two years almost. That's twice as long as the base lasted. I may be the only complaint they have ever had. I'm sure I'm not. However, I find this very unacceptable. What would you do? My total cost for both was around $2000. Read moreIssue: Lay-Z-boy joined England furniture and the quality of my sectional couch form England was not good, average at best! I bought the sectional couch three years ago, and within one year the cushions sank and the fabric pivoted and peeled, it was disappointing to say the least, because of the condition I could not even sell it, my only option was to give it away! Honestly, I felt embarrassed to do even that!
Initial inquiry: I called England furniture and they only would deal with warranty issues, they were cordial, but didn’t do me any favors. They simply referred me back to the store I purchased the couch from. That’s when I talked with Ethan at St. Michel. At first, he approached someone local to help solve the problem, however the cost was too high because the repair needed was to extensive.
Solution: Ethan kept in contact with me over the next four months and his perseverance eventually led to the couch being shipped back to the manufacturer to be repaired. Finally after almost five months, the couch was fixed and at a minimal cost to us.
Bottom line: What is important to remember is that you can buy furniture anywhere today, the competition is fierce, but true blue customer service is a rarity. If you need furniture buy from Ethan, you won’t regret it! In life, as you know things can happen, but it’s a good feeling to know someone local is nearby with impeccable customer service...
Read moreSuch poor service that I have to let others know. First, the sectional sofa came with the wrong set up and missing a latch to hold it together. The delivery people were very helpful and photographed the missing latch so it could be quickly replaced and said the sales person would call to fix it. The salesman never followed up even though he got the photos of what was wrong. When I finally got ahold of him he said he would call me back after he talked with the manager the next week. Again, he never followed up. So a couple months later when I finally get ahold of someone, the manager, he has no idea what I am talking about. He does not apologize for the mistakes, or poor service, but instead tells me that I will have to fix the hitch myself (he will give me the parts) because they are too busy to come out. Another couple weeks pass before I have time to pick up the parts at the store. There, the manager gives me the following instructions, “there’s an up and a down. So just do it right.” I tell him I am going to leave a negative review due to such terrible service and suddenly he says they will have time to come out and fix it. Moral of the story is, unless you have reason to believe their service has improved I would be very cautious purchasing from St. Michels...
