Getaways Travel — Local services in Bend

This was my first experience hiring a travel agent so I don't have a comparison unfortunately. My assumption was that a travel agent should save a person time, energy, and the hassle of making their own arrangements. This was not the case in our experience. I will also say this company wasn't referred to us by a friend or family member. The communication was very poor, there were several mistakes made throughout the process, and we felt we were being "up-sold" at every step. And, when obvious mistakes were pointed out to the agent there was a lack of concern and willingness to remedy the issue. I will never refer any person to this agency and especially the agent we used. In fact, I would steer folks clear of this agency all together. Please don't make the same mistake we did. We should have made our own travel plans or at least searched for a referral...

Gail said she researched a trip for me to Italy that she booked me in a 4 star beach front hotel on the Amalfi coast I was really booked in a 2 star hotel not even close to the beach on a busy street across from a shipyard and 30 miles from the Amalfi coast and totally isolated no shops restaurants very scary ghetto area not happy and I want my hotel money back and I hope no one ever uses this travel agent for anything. Does the owner after his own research still insist I was placed in a 4 star beach front hotel on the Amalfi coast ? I wouldn’t know bad customer service then without talking to me he posts statements he hasn’t even researched himself very sad...

Bernie planned the most amazing trip of our lives. We left just about everything up to Bernie and Getaways and he created our dream South African honeymoon and more. From the minute we left Portland, every detail was taken care of. He recommended amazing safaris in Africa and set us up in the perfect place to enjoy Cape Town and South African wine country Franschhoek. He had porters waiting to help us through airports, he scheduled knowledgeable tour guides. We felt safe the whole trip. We were treated like royalty. We'll be using Getaways Travel exclusively from here on out. ...
