The thing that bothers me more than the ridiculous high prices in general is the deceptive pricing. Allow me to explain what I mean.
There are 4 types of price tags. Regular prices. 'Club' prices. Actually sale prices. And "when you buy X-number" prices. So unless you are paying close attention, it would be easy to miss the "when you buy 3" part. Or to pick up a product with a club price thinking it was a sale price.
I think it's deceptive, and you have to be really paying attention. With grocery prices as ridiculous as they are today, come on - I'm a single individual, and I don't want to buy 3+ of something just to get a lower price. And I certainly don't want to have to read the fine print to find out how many I need to buy.
That said, they do have restrooms open to the public, which is a good thing. There are few places in this part of town that do.
Every once in awhile, they have a good price or sale.
I haven't had bad service, but in my opinion the check out registers are understaffed. I mean, what's an extra $15 per hour, when they are charging $4 for a loaf of bread, and $7+ for a dozen eggs? For that low cost of running an extra register, I feel like they could greatly improve the customer experience.
I'm usually buying 1-3 items, and it's not fun to be in line behind someone with a full cart. And this has happened to me the last 2 times I went there. Only one cashier working. Maybe bring back the 10 items or less express lane. Remember that? They used to have that.
It just seems like the bare minimum. Why do that? It's not like they aren't making money. One more employee, and one more register could make such a difference.
I don't like coming here, but it seems like the only other grocery store in town is just as bad. So if I don't want to drive 20 minutes to Vallejo, and then 20 minutes home, plus shopping time/waiting in checkout - if I don't want to basically waste an hour or pay an $8 bridge toll, I'm kinda stuck.
They could do better, they just don't. Probably because they know they don't need to. People will still shop there, because so many people live here, and Benicia has very extremely...
Read moreI was unfortunately harassed by an employee for my dog who has paperwork. I think employees should be taught to look at that. The same way kids can get anxious but are bright to grocery stores dogs can have a moment in which he pulled to leave once in the 30 mins I was here and was completely bashed I hope she tells someone with a child to figure it out too so she can realize how insane that is also why is she not kicked out for her outburst? Food for thought. Learn to be kind there’s no need to make people feel bad, you can respectfully say hey I’m so sorry unfortunately he’s adorable but I got a complaint are you almost done shopping can I help you get rung up or find something. That’s called customer service and being a decent human being in a customer oriented environment. Please let this be a coaching lesson, my dog has been here numerous times even employees were recognizing how well behaved he was and sweet throughout the store. And then when I kindly asked okay did you want me to get rung up at a certain place she ignored me and walked off. You get nothing for being disrespectful other than bad karma. Never coming here, thanks after 17 years of this being a friendly neighborhood store, I think this employee needs to be escorted to an empathy training class asap and learn from her fellow coworkers on how to properly talk...
Read moreRaley’s is a reliable grocery store that genuinely deserves five stars for delivering a great shopping experience every time. The store is always clean, well-organized, and fully stocked with everything you might need, from everyday essentials to a good selection of specialty items. Their produce is fresh, and the shelves are neatly arranged, making it easy to find whatever you’re looking for without any hassle.
One of the best things about Raley’s is how peaceful it feels, especially at night. I often stop by after work, and it’s pleasantly quiet with hardly any crowds, allowing you to shop at your own pace without feeling rushed. It’s almost like having the store to yourself, which is such a nice change from busier stores.
The parking lot is well-lit and feels safe, especially for women who may be shopping alone. It’s a small but meaningful feature that adds peace of mind and makes you feel more comfortable during those later trips. The staff are friendly and helpful, always available if you need assistance but never intrusive.
Overall, Raley’s is a great choice for anyone looking for a reliable, comfortable, and stress-free...
