The food tasted pretty good. But I was shocked by the service we received. I paid when we ordered, thinking we were ordering take-out. I added a sizable tip, even though we weren't planning to receive wait service. knowing that a lot of restaurants have struggled through the pandemic. About 5 mins after ordering, we decided to stay and eat indoors since there were no other patrons in the restaurant and we felt safe to take our masks off. The host said that would be fine. My friend and I sat down in a booth and received our food. It was around 7:30pm. I had not even taken a bite of the entree yet (I had eaten some of my soup and 1 or 2 spring roll bites) when a staff member from the restaurant came over to us and asked if we were done eating yet. My friend pointed out that we needed more time (I hadn't even taken a bite of my entree); the man looked frustrated and pointed at the sign he had just flipped over, noting that they were now closed, then turned on his heel and walked away. It was 8:00 exactly. I have never experienced such rude service in a restaurant. If they close at 8, they could have gently let us know. They could have focused on cleaning the kitchen and allowed us 10 more minutes to eat our food. Instead, they brought to go boxes and rushed us out of the restaurant, meal half eaten. It was really a horrible experience. The kinder waiter, when I brought up to him that I felt his colleague was rude, he did apologize, but then he told us "that's just how he is". Well, maybe you should keep him away from the...
Read morePearl Thai in Benicia is like a culinary journey to Thailand with its flavorful main dishes that can satisfy that Thai food craving.
The cozy atmosphere wraps you in a warm, mom-and-pop embrace, making it feel like a home away from home. However, when they are busy, it seems like they may need just an extra hand.
Now, let's talk about the Tom Yum soup—it's the Thai food litmus test, right? This one had me doing a culinary double-take. It felt like it was playing hide-and-seek with tomatoes, and the spice level was on a mild vacation. I'm all for a flavor adventure, but this soup needed a bit more Thai kick to dance on my taste buds.
But hey, the angel wings, the seafood plate, and the shrimp pad Thai? And other dishes were good. They were like a Thai food orchestra hitting all the right notes. So, despite the Tom Yum detour, Pearl Thai knows how to deliver a tasty symphony...
Read moreThis place sucks. I have eaten here a few times since I live close but the food is always overcooked, and the curries are grossly sweet. I cannot believe the number of positive reviews as I've tasted most of the menu and it is all mediocre at best. I recently I spent $17 on "crispy pork" only to discover when I got home less than 3oz of soggy pork in a pile of vegetables, considering the price I thought it must be a mistake and drove back. It was expensive and I was hungry. The manager then refused to fix the order or refund me based on the fact that pork is "expensive" pointing to their ancient "best of Solano county" award, clearly he doesn't understand the concept of being polite or customer service since was cursing at me (I was very polite) and clearly ready to argue til blue in the face. I did not argue the point and left as not one person spoke coherent English. I will...
