I supported Pat and her jewelry store for over 10 yrs from when they were initially in Vallejo and the 2 stores in Benicia and I trusted her and the jewelry repair person...I handed Pat my 11mm rosy pink AAA+ cultured pearl and my sterling silver ring setting to add a post both were separate at the time. When called to pick up my ring I was totally shocked...they had replaced it with a dark rough texture 3 branch looking ring and a pearl that was not close to what i had given her and had blamed her jeweler repairman that while working on my original setting it exploded...I was heartbroken for I first wore it to my brothers funeral in 2017 for I have sentimental value towards that ring not monetary value. I had returned the pearl replacement to Pat many months ago...Integrity she does not have as I found out last month she returned to me my original ring setting when I asked her if her repairman can smoothen out the ring they had replaced my original ring with (all the months of believing Pat's story of it exploding)... when called to pick up the ring I said "Pat this is my original ring setting".. she couldn't face me or utter one word to me explaining how she happened to give my original setting back which she said had exploded...so i immediately left her store and went to a jeweler I've known for years and trusted and she checked my ring setting...I was right she said...we both saw something that was inscribed something personal inside my ring setting and it was sloppily scraped out. Im guessing the person they gave my ring to as a gift wanted to have it replaced as a pearl pendant or mounted on a gold ring setting...only God knows the truth. The story was fabricated since day one so they can give my pearl ring as a gift to her or his family member. Today she has not returned my original pearl. Lies and stealing from a dedicated customer throughout the years is unbelievable still and heartbreaking... I thought we were friends somewhat...A lyric by the singing group "The Temptations" "smiling faces shows no traces of the evil that lurks within" stands out of what i experienced from them...my original pearl they stole from me is an 11mm AAA+ deep rosy pink cultured south sea pearl with hues of blue and lavender depending on the lighting...yes she was so nice and sweet to me through the years until she betrayed me. The truth usually comes out in the end...
Read moreMy review is for the resizing/ repairs that I brought into Roberto's specifically, not jewelry I've purchased there. I have brought repairs into Roberto's twice:
First time was over a year ago when I brought in an antique art deco diamond and emerald ring and the white gold wasn't rhodium plated where the repair was made. Another ring was meant to be sized up- but I realize now was stretch and I didn't notice because it's yellow gold. Also 2 platinum bands with diamonds were stretched (which I realized months later when another jeweler pointed out the scratches on the inside of both rings).
I wanted to give this place a second chance so I brought it 4 rings to be sized up.
A rose gold, diamonds, alexandrite- was STRETCHED and the marks were NOT buffed out.
White gold, topaz. STRETCHED and structure of the ring compromised. The rhodium plating on the band cracked/ peeled and the topaz stone was actually damaged during the process.
White gold, diamond SPINNER ring that I asked NOT to be worked of if your jeweler wasn't confident with it. It was also stretched- not resized from a 4.5 to an attempted 5.25. It is now just under size 5, the shape is off, the structural integrity of the ring is compromised - and the spinner is damaged.
I did receive a full refund after I realized that I was charged to materials that were never used, but two of the rings (worth about $4,000 combined) are irreparably damaged and can't be replaced. They are still "wearable"- but that's not the point.
Pat- you are a very nice lady, but I feel like you need to check your jewelers work and ask questions. This is your business and it all reflects on you. If you are charging a customer for gold or platinum to size a ring up but the materials aren't used- that's just wrong. Stretching costs nothing and takes very little time.. the cost associated with it is rhodium plating because it cracks. Stretching is considered to be an undesirable (and lazy) approach that the customer should be asked about prior to the work being done, and it shouldn't even be considered for resizing a ring (in ideal conditions) more than...
Read moreWonderful small town jeweler. Their jewelry is very well priced and displayed. I have seen some one of a kind antique style jewelry and they also have some more modern pieces as well. Pat is the sweetest lady ever and is so very kind and helpful in describing all of their lovely jewelry. They are making a pendent for me now but unfortunately I brought it in before they had to temporarily close due to quarantine but pat has thoroughly helped me design this piece and gave amazing suggestions so I know it’s in good hands and it will be amazing once it’s done. I’ll be sure to take some pictures of it and add the extra star once I receive it. Update: received pictures of the pendant and it is extremely beautiful. Can’t wait to pick it up soon. Thanks Robertos you guys...
