I'm writing this from the perspective of a housewife shopping for my family, not as a business owner. I have shopped at food service stores in other states in the West Coast and found them to be an economic way to stock up my pantry. Not so here. While there are some bulk sizes, everything is very overpriced compared to other grocery stores in the area, ie Meijer, Aldi, Walmart. Fresh fruits and vegetables at Gordon Food Service Store are lacking in quality and are often twice the price of other stores. Their frozen vegetables were not at a quality I like to buy. While they have a decent cold cereal section, they're much overpriced. They don't have much, if any vegetarian section. There are a few things that may or may not be worthwhile. I enjoy the large bags of "tater puffs," an off brand tater tot. If you needed large amounts of paper dishes or napkins, etc., it also may be worth it. The shopping experience is also not a bad one! So if products were out or they had to make substitutions, they could call me today, I came into the store to pick up 200# baby carrots for our summer feeding program at our school. The prices of some of our favorite foods at meijer are just $.50 to $1 cheaper, and for people who prep food, they have prep containers and plastic Tupperware here.
