Village Computer Center, Inc. — Local services in Bernardsville

I walked into this business to buy an Ubiquiti wireless access point, since I knew they were the only store in the area who sold them. I found what I was looking for, however they were selling a $110 item for $160 (which is even $10 higher than the PRO version of the access point the Manufacturer sells). I asked them to price match the manufacturer, and was denied. The person behind the counter was extremely rude, and barely even made an attempt to make eye contact with me. I was told that he was "fighting a bad cold". I came back in later on the same day to speak to the owner, and I was told that their prices were to help pay the rent, etc. I brought up the fact that they weren't even an authorized dealer for Ubiquiti, and that the manufacturer sells the product for $50 less, and was essentially pushed away. They offered to lower the price to $129 - which, is still insanely overcharging for a product. I ended up going to manufacturer, purchasing the "Pro" version of the access point (which, was much better than the version Village Computer sells) - got it overnight shipped, and only spent a dollar more than I would have needed to spend at "full price" here.

Long story short, don't purchase anything here. They overcharge, and aren't even authorized resellers. I told them I would write this review - and was essentially thrown out of their store, with the owner telling his employees not to sell...

When I worked in Basking Ridge I used Village Computer for two different things. 1) as my “I got to have right away a user needs this” resource. 2) and as I was an IT department of one their services became my extra set of hands when needed. Their service is always good, making sure the customer is happy and the problems are solved. Pricing on Cables can’t be beat anywhere else locally especially big box stores. This is a LONG OVERDUE review for Glen Ochten of Village Computer Center, Inc. We have been using Glen as my employer’s IT person for over twenty years and he deserves a 10 star review. When there are times when our computer system goes down, it’s Super Glen to the rescue - Glen handles what has to be handled and does it so capably, calmly and quickly.
