Raye of Light Studio — Local services in Bethany Beach

I have a background in art, my medium is oil. I wanted to give watercolor a try, so this class intrigued me. I must say when we were just prepping and learning the basics in 20 minutes I was frustrated. This is not oil, not what I am accustomed to. It was hard to not manipulate the brush and pigment how I know. But I tried and i think for my first time I did good.

Kathy, the instructor was great. The class is small for one on one questions. She gave the basics with demonstrations and answered questions. Directions were clear and she was patient with those of us who were not experienced. Even though the class ended at a certain time, she kept the class going for those that wanted to paint more. So, my boyhood art career stalled when Sister accused me of handing in an art project that my sister, Victoria, "so obviously", drew. Vicky-now a professional artist and filmmaker-helped me by telling me how to create a vanishing point and horizon, but I did everything else on the paper--a little river scene. I never did "art" again, until yesterday, some 60 years later. I wanted to try making art again, so my wife signed me up at Raye of Light. Kathy did not disappoint. The instruction was precise and so simpatico. In fact, I submit that if you know how to hold a pencil, Kathy can teach you lots of techniques. The amazing Kathy of the Raye of Light Studio has created the winning recipe for a fun, invigorating, & creative time making art and memories with friends & neighbors! It reminded me of AL the best parts of HS Studio Art class without the distraction of teenage flirtations and 80's bad hair. I had a really great time that was both stimulating and relaxing at the same time! That's not an easy feat! Kathy is a super artist and mentor - walking us through the project and gently correcting me of 30 years of watercolor bad habits! I would go back in a heartbeat!
