After breakfast at a local coffee shop in the area hubby and I decided to do a little exploring in the Bethany/Oceanview area and we happened upon the bright yellow house that is Morning Buns Bake Shop (kudos to whoever chose this bright, happy color because it definitely draws people in). We were greeted by Mimi who was so helpful in describing all the delicious pastries and other treats in the case and let me tell you it wasn't easy making a decision. We went with a chocolate pastry, Pumpkin Croissant and a Morning Glory Muffin and each one was delicious. We were staying at the beach for several days so we ended up going back the next day for more goodies before heading to a local park for a hike to attempt to walk off some of those calories. We've had the chance to try several different things and my very favorite is the Morning Glory Muffin - it tastes sort of like carrot cake and has nuts and crushed pineapple - I'm not a big sweets person and usually tend to pick at things for hours, never finishing but I ate that muffin in minutes and was right back the next day for another. Hubby loved both the apricot and raspberry pastries, and let me just say, they are large enough to last all day. Since our first visit to Morning Glory in October we have been back 3 more times and will continue to make it our regular stop. Great people and ambience, very friendly and since they don't make things in large batches everything is super fresh and flavorful - no leftovers at this place so get there early. The prices are fair for such a high...
Read moreVery comfortable local coffee ☕ and Tea shop close to my house.
The location looks historical inside with an original glass case and some very old antique metal tables. Black colored walls and ceiling for a comfortable and dark mood, comfortable study location. It's not dirty. It's just antique and old for people that don't understand how glass gets after 50+ years.
The hot chocolate 🍫 was tasty and did not have that syrup or powder flavor of Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. They offer different kinds of milk if that is your preference.
Their music was tasteful and light jazz and not blasting. Conducive to good studying without blasting music like Starbucks which I hate. Minimal power. A few power banks strips all over the floor. Slight trip hazard so please be careful.
Customers were a mix of students and older folks studying or just relaxing and reading. Mostly students studying quietly and not loud if they were in a group. Restrooms in the rear.
Overall, a good place that is open late. I'm not sure what the sister was talking about racism below. I think it has more to do with your attitude and how you communicate here from my...
Read moreWe had a consult for wedding cake yesterday and we were blown away by the attention to our day. When we arrived they had cupcakes ready to try with four icing options all displayed nicely on a gold tray. Water was out for us and they even provided coffee to our group of four. The cupcakes were amazing and Kylee was super into our theme, provided options, and explained the process great. Some things that stood out were the prep for our arrival and making sure we tried what we wanted, the ideas for displaying the cupcakes, and the fact they they make your exact topper ome year later instead of freezing the cake topper. I was not a fan of that and happy to hear that they bake you a fresh one to celebrate your anniversary included at no extra cost. Overall, their professionalism is what made us choose them even before...
