The owner is bonkers and shifty. I realized the whole idea was to just get me there, start taking the dip off, and then make me see someone other than the person I requested. He ignores the fact that I offered to come another time since he was busy! He got his "feelings" hurt when I said it wasn't ok to start taking the dip off and then say, I either had to see someone else or pay $15. He embarrassed and humiliated me by telling me I couldn't come back and making a scene because I objected to being put in a position of either paying $15 or seeing someone else, AFTER I HAD OFFERED TO COME ANOTHER TIME OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
I told him numerous times that I understood he had someone else. That WASN'T the problem. It was the manipulation that was the problem and then the scene he created in front of the entire salon. I have never been treated so shabbily. Crazy!
I thought I had found my go-to place for dip manicures. David was recommended to me and I went several times. He did a very nice job and was very pleasant. Until today. I called knowing I was asking for a last minute appt and more than willing to make an appt for another day. I asked if he had time, she said he had another appointment in an hour. I didn't want him to be rushed, said so and again offered to come another day. She wanted me to see someone else, but since I'd gone to him and knew I liked what he did, I'd come another day. Back and forth -- it went. I got there and he said he had another appointment. I again said I'll come another time. They offered to have someone else do my nails, which I think the woman was trying to have happen all along. I said no, I can come back. He starts to take the polish off, tells me he can't do my nails because of his other customer, and he's going to charge me $15 to take the dip off if I don't stay-- after he had started. Completely ignoring my many offers to come back before he started. I said "that's not ok to charge me" he became very angry and upset and told me never to come back. His wife takes over. She says to me, it was her fault, takes the dip part way off and then says either I stay or she doesn't finish. I ended up with someone else who did a fine job (but cut my cuticles!). There was several other customers while all this was going on. It was embarrassing and insulting to be treated like this. And now I know, when I called the woman just wanted to get me in there, tell me he doesn't have time, and then have someone else do it. I hope the $50 was worth losing a regular customer who had recommended him to other people....
Read moreI recently had a highly disappointing experience at DX Organic Nails. Initially, I was pleased with the pedicure I received from one technician, but my experience took a drastic turn when another technician, who appeared to be struggling with a another customer, took over for my nail service. I should have left when the ticked off customer stormed out.
The problematic technician was assigned to my dip and manicure service, my request was also for an ombré effect on two nails and a pointy shape on the others. She was unfamiliar with the ombré technique and left that part to someone else, but her work on my nails was far from satisfactory. She cut deeply into my cuticles on at least three fingers, causing them to bleed. Despite my clear discomfort and verbal "ouch" , she did not address the bleeding and only offered a brief apology before continuing. I had to ask the manager for Neosporin to manage the pain myself. The manager did eventually use a powder solution to stop the bleeding, but the pain and soreness persisted.
The salon itself was smaller and less glamorous than I had expected, with no hooks or proper storage for personal items. I ended up having to sit with my lunch beside me throughout the service and my bag on the floor.
When it came time to pay, I was surprised to be asked for payment via Venmo or Zelle instead of using Applepay, cash or card (I felt it might've been a racial thing). I highly doubt they ask that from their Bethesda type clientele. The discount provided for the service was minimal, and I felt that a larger reduction was warranted given the poor quality of the service and the pain I endured. I tipped the technician who did my pedicure but did not tip the technician who handled my nails.
LET ME BE CLEAR MY CUTICLE SKIN AREA IS FAWKED UP AND LOOKS HORRIBLE
Overall, this was a very awful experience, and I deeply regret not leaving when I first noticed issues. While I try to support small businesses, there are many other nail salons that offer better service. I would not recommend DX Organic Nails unless you are certain of the quality of the technician you will be seeing.
I would not have even had a star but it's required...
Read moreIt’s never comfortable having to dispute over quality and pricing for a luxury service. My sister and I are new to the area and we called ahead and asked for 2 full sets & a pedicure and unfortunately, the experience was unpleasant from beginning to end. We made an appointment and once we arrived I was told that there wasn't enough time for a new set so I compromised and just did a fill which turned out okay but not the best considering the price as the polish was streaky and my old color wasn’t filed off in some areas. My sister asked for an acrylic set but received a powder dip in a bubblegum pink color she didn’t ask for and the technician didn’t talk to her to confirm with her so my sister assumed she knew what she wanted. This situation would be less of a problem if the quality wasn’t so bad. Not only was she cut/injured due to them cutting her cuticles too deep but a few of her nails are also different shapes. Communication is a major issue amongst the staff here and it was not a good experience overall nor were the errors addressed even when I spoke to the store owner who tried to consistently try to justify the doubled price increase that wasn’t discussed with us, by repeatedly typing the numbers into a calculator. Anyways, we ended up paying double what we were quoted and only received one service we booked that was correctly executed, the pedicure (with no base color even tho it was requested) Would...
