I went here a couple days ago with my family to celebrate a new job and as a last hurrah / goodbye before moving to the west coast. This was my first PLANTA experience and visiting one of their locations had been top of my list for a long time so I was very excited to finally make it out there.
Overall, I wouldn't return to this location, but would still (hesitantly) try another location. And I would definitely get the bang bang broccoli again!
Atmosphere: We sat in the back closest to the restrooms (which was still a safe distance away) at a large square table. The overall esthetic is nice but it was very difficult to speak as it was so loud in the restaurant. It truly felt like I was in a bar, having to shout to be heard and constantly asking and being asked "what did you say?" which was not ideal considering this was a "goodbye" dinner with family I haven't seen in a while before I move to the west coast.
Service: The servers were very attentive and did a good job not including the issues noted below. Dishes are brought out as they become ready, not all at once which is not the servers fault but just something to note about the way the restaurant operates. We did have a number of issues during our dinner though that I was surprised to experience at a higher end restaurant. -We had asked for tap water to be served to everyone at the table, and at first only three people were given waters. We had to ask for two more to be brought out so all 5 of us had water which was a bit odd. -My water had two large chunks of what looked like bread in it before I even took a sip. I asked the server for another glass and she took it and brought back another. I looked in it when she handed it to me and immediately saw more smaller pieces of bread in the water. This is something that after the first time she should have checked before handing it to me. I had to wait again for her to come back and ask again for another glass of water, which she brought and checked. I didn't have any trouble with the water after that. -My husbands knife had very clearly been used and not washed. We asked for another knife and the server apologized and offered to comp one of our apps without us asking for anything which was nice. -There were a number of issues with the checks that involve too many details to explain on here but we were charged for items we weren't supposed to be charged for, among other things. -This is not factored into the rating because accidents happen but I'll note it here for those who might care: a number of dishes were dropped and broken during our dinner, and F bombs were not so quietly dropped. We didn't have kids with us, so if anything I felt sorry for the servers who experienced this but I was surprised this happened so much and that cursing was involved at a restaurant of this level.
Food: -Bang Bang Broccoli was out of this world. -Dragon roll and July maki special was mediocre at best. My husband and I agreed we would have preferred just a plain avocado roll over eating those again, as they lacked flavor and the fried broccoli was not crispy. But they were visually appealing. -July pasta special was flavorless according to another family member. -Spicy lumaconi pasta was good, but nothing to write home about. I wouldn't return for it.
Overall, I was expecting a lot more from such a highly rated restaurant.
Parking was easy in a garage next door. It uses an app, or you can use the kiosk. We paid $3.75 for 2 hours, and dined for 1.5 hours (which would have been shorter without the issues we...
Read moreVery impressive quality vegan restaurant, with outstanding vegan sushi— extremely well- done! The Unagi with truffle is phenomenal! The watermelon ‘ tuna’ is very appealing, yuzu-tangy, the Margarita cashew- cheese pizza very good. Perhaps add a basil frond for the ‘ industinguishable’ thing we all are going for! Good choice as vegan cheeses are not yet ‘prime- time’ as my old friend used to say. I will be a regular, of course: I am why Real Food Daily was created in Los Angeles, my father is why Food& Wine industry was created. I was kidnapped when the US fell, as was Donald Trump. They stole my Gulfstream by black people using robotics as- police, and in Trump’s case— he was pretending to be my genius father in the oil business as were Cheney and Bush Sr—I don’t know whether the black JD kept the money yet. Oprah Winfrey murdered my mother on my Gulfsyream jet election week 2008 when I was supposed to be the VP. The most famous French chef was my personal chef as a young princess, so of course we are very much looking forward to restaurants like PLANTA in the fine- dining meat- and - dairy- replacement space. It all in vegan should taste identical, cook by chemical processes, by texture and mouthfeel, identical. It should be packaged in the same quantities, commercial and retail grocery, and be adopted as an interest of State. I was busy being tortured, as my murdered mother would say, or I would be with agar- agar, aquafaba, textured soy protein, seitan, vital wheat gluten, making masterpieces of my own. My heat sickness migraines were misdiagnosed as statistically impossible acute psychiatry— as Biden was kidnapped by Harris using Jewish invasion-pseudomedical— and in my case I was a PhD in the faculty of Harvard, disappeared i Virginia. My family prostheticized by black Marine purchases of old Navy robotics. And voila, the perfect crime. Trumps gold buildings, the Chicago Convention (Joe Biden by extortion not feeling well, you see…a danger to himself and others, of course… can’t be trusted with a gun, but nothing political, not money involved, of course).
For background on the review, I make vegan foie de canard, vegan soufflés—went to French culinary school — vegan boeuf bourgignon. Everyone, even in Trumps middle- class lockdown, can make the old vegan burger. You remember? Not billionaire- acute-psych? Nuts, peas, beans, bread- crumbs. In the processor. Tea at the Plaza now has a $90 vegan etagere. Kidnapped Trump didn’t do well on his own ‘ billionaire psych - eval’ so he is now penniless, pan- handling and cannot stumble in leg- chains and past Israeli psych torturers, it to Court. The Palm Court. Hell, I’m indigent in virginia without private aviation, and I’d sport. No errors, Doctor??? I’m the one who removed the Dean of Harvard Law. Clothing still in Harvard faculty laundry. Paranoid, Doctor? Have a vegan ‘Japanese steak’ at PLANTA and maybe you will get better. Do doctors never get sick? I can teach at HMS, offered by Summers a University professorship. He was on the Nobel in Econ Sci that ended the US. plant- based, Docttor. It’s good for ya. I’ll be doing the psych- evaluation. And you will be In restraints. Not the country, in...
Read moreCame here for brunch on a Sunday & it was everything I could imagine. This was my first vegan/plant based restaurant and it set the bar for other vegan/plant based restaurants moving forward. First off the staff was amazing and friendly. I think the bartenders name was James & he was great! Super knowledgeable about the food, great recommendations and even provided his own key lime sour cocktail which was tasty. The manager was also very cool and down to earth. His name is escaping me, but on this day he was wearing a turban and is either Caribbean or from a part of Africa. Forgive me sir if I am wrong lol. Moving onto food, I started out with the Cinnamon Bun which was better than the Cinnabon from the company themselves! This Cinnamon Bun was warm, fluffy, sweet and tasty beyond expectation. When you bite into this, you'll just might want to order another one. I followed it up with Banana Waffle and French Toast. The Banana Waffle wasn't all that to me but its not bad. After eating the Cinnamon Bun, the waffle came off rather bland but still fluffy. It didn't have that sweetness to it as much as the cinnamon bun which is why I think it was just ok. I may get it again in the future, but could skip it as well. The french toasts are great! I love a good french toast with complementing fruit. I will definitely be sure to order this again on my next visit. Cant forget the endless mimosas as well. I had a cranberry mimosa and then switched to pineapple mimosas. I think I stuck with the pineapple mimosas because the pineapple flavor was bold and complimented the champagne perfectly. Next time, I'll try the sangrias. Thats all I ordered from the brunch menu and moved onto their regular menu as brunch ended. The mushroom bacon Iniri was banging. Its like a sushi rice stuffed mushroom deep fried. When it came out, as I paired it with the wasabi and soy sauce, it was epic. They are rather big for sushi pieces as well so four of these could be a great appetizer to start your meal also. Furthermore, the Chickn Fried Mushrooms are bomb too. Imagine shrimp tempura, but fried mushroom tempura. the sauce it comes with also compliments the taste and definitely something you should order if you like fried mushrooms. I think they have happy hour during the week & there's much more on the menu I didn't get to try. I will be returning soon, look forward to seeing the staff, enjoying the ambience and music, and getting some more delicious good food! I think the best part of it was leaving, and feeling full but not heavy. I still took a nap when I got home but I think the mimosas...
