The prices on clothing and accessories at Lovelady Thrift Store are a little high, the sections are thin and aren't great shopping-and i know at least one of the reasons why. A few times that I've dropped off bags of clothing and accessories (im mean these were some really good brands and new items) the ladies go through them and pick out the good items no matter what size. One lady took almost half of all my donations and put them to the side for herself. My sister in law had the same exact experience with a different women but the same excuse as to why shes putting aside all these items for herself. Whe you shop at a thrift store, you are already seeing mostly discarded and unwanted items. When this happens...by time any items hit the floor...you're not seeing anything of quality. I totally understand that the job isn't the most glamorous and i bet its a great perk...but it simply makes for bad shopping at this thrift store and i now take donations elsewhere.
The home sections are actually pretty stellar. Ive found some GREAT large items, beautiful furniture, mirros, vintage items there for home and kitchen. Again, the prices were a just a little bit higher than you see at 'the bins' (Goodwill and Salvation Army bins) but its a good selection. Everyone that works there is incredibly nice and the store/ bathrooms are very clean. Its a great thrift store and GREAT cause but when if you thrift almost every other day like i do...you end up skipping Lovelady some weeks and its bad for their charity's bottom line and ability to hire on more ladies for the...
Read moreThis place has became a joke! I was in there last night. Having $125 marked on used shoes that are 100 new is a joke. When I asked if this was for real, the rude lady said “ yes it’s for real, I have them on my feet and I google them” Well I have 600 Yeezys on my feet, doesn’t mean I paid 600 for them. Things are DONATED to them, letting someone who clearly doesn’t know prices decide on pricing these things is insane! There isn’t anyone who is going to pay that for used shoes. Not to mention, most winter boots were Walmart one, and they had 29.99 marked on them. Then, when you check out your asked “ do you want to donate to Lovelady” isn’t that what I just did? I just bent over and took it when I paid these prices? I usually spend around 300 a week here, I won’t go back. This has turned into a disgusting place to not only get money to help the women, but rob the ones who shop there. You can “ google” a Walmart shirt. Doesn’t mean you should put the top price on used it mens. Management needs to go in and take a look at what they price things for. It’s USED items donated, don’t rob people with the prices and maybe you’d make more money! I heard three other people complain and walk out. Even that is enough, but don’t have your rude people argue about how they know better on prices than customers, she was gross with...

This notice in the Irondale location, stating “we can only allow registered service Dogs and you must present an ID if you enter” is in violation of federal and state laws regarding service animals.
I’ve been a frequent shopper for years. I’m disabled with a service dog who graduated out of a service dog program.
I advocate for ADA federal rights.
ID are scams. They hold no legal authority. It is also illegal for your stores or employees to even ask to see them.
You can ask if it’s a service animal required for a disability and what task is it trained to perform. But you legally cannot require an ID regardless of what your store policy is.
ID only come from scam websites. I guarantee someone who shows an ID does not have a legitimate trained service dog.
You have legal rights to remove a dog that is not trained.
But no legal right to ask for an ID that legally, does not exist.
I want to come shop again. And I do not. Why? Fear of the anxiety attack your store&staff could cause over an argument about providing a ID that my program trained/graduated service dog does not have, because they don’t exist. Programs don’t hand them out.
And it violates federal ADA laws, and AlabamA state laws to ask for it.
So what do I do?
Will you allow me to help...
