This is a good value. I walked in right at 4 p.m. as they were putting the dinner selections out. I was impressed with the wide variety. Great sushi selection, and very fresh and flavorful compared to other buffets. Seaweed salad was excellent. Your eyes will be bigger than your stomach I assure you--for dinner there is a vast away of the standard Oriental fare such as broccoli and beef, sesame chicken, Mongolian dishes, egg rolls, spring rolls and sweet and sour just to name a few. That was also a surprisingly good choice of seafood, including raw oysters ( which were cool, fresh and delicious ), boiled shrimp, baked salmon and several tasty seafood casseroles. again I'm really just mentioning the tip of the iceberg as this place is huge. Plenty of good American fare too-- barbecue chicken, fried chicken wings, spare ribs and even little pieces of a surprisingly good strip steak. My only disappointment where the crab claws, probably because I was expecting crab legs and these are the smaller cluster claws that you usually find served fried as an appetizer. I wrestled with 3 of them only to get a tiny amount of meat. LOL.... There was also a great selection of soup. It's not my thing but the salad bar looks good with a wide selection of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as combination salads. I was too stuffed to even consider the huge dessert selection. All in all very good fresh food for a buffet and a good value. The prices are lower from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with dinner pricing starting at 4....
Read moreKing Buffet was built in 2018. I visited for the first time 1 week after opening. They were very organized. The food was fresh and tasty. I was there for lunch and the options did not disappoint! The staff is a mix of Asian decent and American decent; so if you don't speak Chinese they still treat you like family! Some Asian restaurants can be rude due to the language barrier. However, King Buffet staff was very friendly and had great communication skills.
There are more sushi options than any other sushi buffet. They use real fish like Salmon, Cod, Snapper, and Eel. They also had seaweed salad that wasn't diluted with green rice noodles. It was just seaweed. It was very fresh and delish! Some buffets will add green noodles to thin out their seaweed salad to make it go farther; but not at King Buffet! (See Pics)
The Mongolian grill had a ton of options; more than anyone else in Birmingham. There was also a large selection of sauces to use. It true felt the combinations you could create were endless. (See Pics)
There are several tables and booths and combo sections that can be pushed together for large parties. This buffet is a few bucks more than others in town, but well worth it for the quality...

If you've been to one buffet, you've been to them all, right? WRONG! Think of a Chinese Buffet AND a Mongolian Buffet all under one roof! AND they had the largest "Fresh Cooked" right before your eyes buffet I've ever seen. You pick your meats, your veggies, your sauces, hand it to the person doing the cooking on this huge Mongolian Wok thing and he does the Japanese Steak House chop chop dance right there in front of you while he's slicing and dicing up your food.
While I was watching the guy cook, he was very meticulous about keeping the raw food dishes that you hand him your food on separate from the cooked food dishes he hands your cooked meal back to you on.
The only thing I saw that I had a concern with was that he used the same cooking spatula on all of the foods he was cooking, so if you have a seafood or peanut allergy, you might ask if they can use separate cooking utensils for your food only.
Everything we ate was delicious, and the prices were not bad for lunch in this tragic city. The staff were friendly and efficient and always...
