Ive been a Y member most my life. Im Disabled Male from Eufaula area, Called two weeks ago to Bixby Y to ask about amenities no answer, after several attempts over a few hours I finally got an answer and was told they had all the amenities I was looking for, so I planned my long trip and when I arrived was greeted by a lady that could not understand clear English and after she asked me to write my name down, in a very broke dialect, she could not read the block alphabet letters I wrote down, then she informs again with a dialect, very, very hard to understand, and tells me that the amenities I was told they had and drove a long distance to use, were only available for Women, Men were not allowed to use them, at a YMCA [website doesnt say that either]. You can imagine I wasn't very pleased with the service or being told, that I basically wasted most of my day. The manager Chris came to lobby area and asked how he could help, when I explained this situation, he said I was being rude and insulting because I pointed out that the Receptionist could not understand or read English, and told me I had to leave and that he was not going to give me a Membership. Chris and his staff are rude, unprofessional and should not be dealing with the public at all.... Luckily I found the Tandy Y and the Wonderful staff that works there and am now a member again.
PS I called Tulsa area corporate to make a complaint spoke with Jeff Healey he took the time to listen but then abruptly told me he would have done the same thing that the Manager Chris did because I broke the Y code of conduct by pointing out their employees inability to understand or read English. I forgot to ask Jeff what I can or can't say If I have a legitimate complaint again, so I don't break their code of conduct. I've had hundreds of interactions with the Y over 50+ years Chris and Jeff are the only two I've ever had an issue with, I love the Y but was disappointed with the way Bixbys Staff and Jeff handled this issue. Hopefully Jeff don't cancel my new...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolutely do not recommend enrolling your child in either the Summer Camp or after school program. They are the most unorganized and unsafe environment to watch your child. I had to pull my child out for some major safety issues along with the Youth & Family Director Siera bullying my daughter in order to get her removed. They forgot on multiple occasions to administer her medication, took her on a field trip without my permission after stating she wasn't going, she never answered my emails or calls, would show up to pick up her up and she'd say she's "kicked out" for ongoing behavioral issues, but would never contact me about them so I was always left clueless. They claimed she would run around with her clothes off. I was extremely concerned about this behavior as it had never been exhibited and she told me it was because another kid told her to do it. They would not investigate this issue. As much as my daughter seemed to love the kids there, it is not worth my her safety over this. I hope they are investigated over these issues for the sake of children. And I hope Siera learns to grow up and become an adult in order to communicate with parents. We all are busy, but she needs to be able to return calls and/or emails. All of these concerns were brought up with higher management, but never...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame in on a rainy day hoping to swim. I walked in the door and immediately notice a lifeguard reading a book with wire headphones and feet in the hot tub. I disregard because no one was swimming in the pool so I thought, hey why not. I go to walk in to the pool area and Front desk stated the pool was closed because ālifeguards are taking a breakā I stated okay, we will wait. I look at clock it is 4:57pm. Mind you Family swim is 4:30pm. I think āa break this early? Doesnāt seem right.ā Again I go sit down and wait.
I then see another life guard lounging in a chair. After a few minutes I get up to go ask what time the break would be over to swim. He immediately begins to stutter that the pool is closed because of lightning. I look over again to see the female life guard with legs in the hot tub.
I simply stated oh okay, thank you and l walked out.
The whole situation was odd. I am a rule follower and understand policy. But that made no sense. Picture below.
ADDITIONAL ODD BEHAVIOR: I asked Front Desk where the locker room was because I did not receive a tour upon registration. And he stated that he ALSO didnāt know where they were because he wasnāt given a tour eitherā¦.sir you are employed here? How were you hired without being shown where...
