Bosnian Supermarket — Local services in Blaine

I was so excited to find this place! I couldn't believe my eyes! I went in to look for Burek! Also known as Pitha or other names in Turkey or Ukraine, etc. It is a thin, very thin crusted pastry filled with usually any savory filling you would like to have for dinner. Meat, potatoes, cheese, spinach & cheese, meat & potatoes, cheese & potatoes, etc. I silently hoped they had a bakery & I could get my hands on some fresh baked, honest to goodness, Bosnian Mamma-made Burek but as it turned out they did not bake fresh Burek there. But they did have it in their freezer pre- packaged & considering they had all the flavors I was familiar with meat, cheese, potato I was pretty happy! They also had a pretty nice international chocolate & sweets section but unfortunately didn't have an Italian section :( they do have a bakery there & although they don't make Burek, they do, I'm told, bake fresh Bosnian & Turkish breads Mon-Thurs I think they said from 9am-3pm verify the days & hours I honestly don't remember exactly what they were... I'm kind of just guessing to give an idea. So call them & find out & get yourself some fresh baked Bosnian or...

Full disclosure: This establishment is no longer an authentic Bosnian supermarket, as the original owners have sold the business. Unfortunately, the new ownership does not appear to uphold the same standards of care or customer service. There is no air conditioning in the store, and during my recent visit, I observed that nearly all shelf products—specifically about 90% of the chocolate—were fully melted. I strongly advise all customers to carefully check expiration dates, as the inventory does not seem to be properly maintained or rotated. While I sincerely want to support small businesses, it is equally important that a business shows respect for its customers by ensuring products are safe, fresh, and stored appropriately.

You’re more likely to find a $100 bill on the ground than to be greeted, let alone welcomed with a smile—by the new owners. It’s truly disappointing. I truly miss the previous owners and the quality they provided. Regrettably, until conditions improve, I would recommend purchasing staples such as Ajvar, Argeta, Vegeta, or Zlatna Dzezva coffee from larger, more reliable retailers like...

Not a large store but well stocked, has most of the food items you would expect in such stores, that are imported from Balkan countries. You can find things like Fructal juices from Slovenia, Kras chocolates from Croatia, Bosnian coffee and jufka za pite (phyllo pastry sheets), soft Lesnik karamele by Pionir (Serbia), ajvar from Macedonia and Bulgaria, Romanian teas, and a variety of sweet and salty items from Turkey. The store is clean, there is plenty of parking, and most importantly all items that I purchased were fresh, and the guys working in the store were happy to help.
