We went into this store just wanting to LOOK and not buy. We told this to the store owner from the time we entered his business and several times during. While in the store (we were in there over an hour) he was pushy, asking about our income/disposable income (which is none of his business in the 1st place) kept trying to find out how much we could put down that day when he was told MULTIPLE times we didnât have the money to put down that day. I left an honest review on his fb business page to which he private messaged me requesting I take my review down. So I edited my initial review to include what he had said and screenshots to which he hid/blocked my review from anyone being able to see. He doesnât want people to see bad reviews. Iâll say here like I said there, if youâre looking to buy a bed that day or put money down that day, and donât mind a pushy sales guy, heâs the guy for you. Otherwise, take your business elsewhere where you will not be meet with someone who only wants to make money off you.
Below is my, what I think is a very polite and my honest review I left on his fb page that he doesnât want anyone to see.
âThe one thing I dislike most when buying furniture is a pushy salesperson. And thatâs what we got here. Needless to say, we found a better place, with just as nice beds for WAY cheaper and better payment options. We are saving over $500 with the new place.
UPDATE: So apparently you canât give honest reviews or you will get a message (pic in comments) bullying you to take your HONEST and TRUTHFUL review down. I donât typically leave reviews, but when I do, itâs because I had a really great experience or I had a terrible experience. Unfortunately, this was not a good experience. I had my husband and my children with me who can both back me up on everything I said in my HONEST review. I get people want to make a sale. I get that this is someoneâs job and livelihood, but when you push that hard, asking about income and how much we would be able to put down THAT DAY, when you as a salesperson are told weâre only looking, thatâs way overboard. My income/disposable income, is none of anyoneâs but mine and my SOâs business. It shouldnât be brought up when we were JUST LOOKING for a bed and said that right off the bat. So if youâre only looking and shopping around for prices and styles of beds, stay away from this place or you will be met with what we were met with. And Daniel, if you wanna make more sales, back of a little from your customers. Someoneâs income, disposable or otherwise, has NOTHING to do with you. We told you MULTIPLE TIMES that we didnât have the funds for a bed and werenât able put any money down that day and you continued to PUSH the matter. Next time when someone tells you they donât have the means, give them your card, tell them to call you when theyâre ready, and to have a great rest of their day and leave it at that. And instead of messaging someone to take down their HONEST review, maybe learn from your mistakes. Best of luck to you and your business and have a great rest of your day! ďż˝
Furthermore, here is a copy of the message he sent me, requesting I take down my review/experience I had in his store.
âHey Christine, I think your review is not warranted. When you came in our store I did my best to offer you service.Im very sorry that you felt that way. Please take your comments down and it hurts the business for no good reason. You know it is the truth on what Iâm saying. After spending over one hour in the store to select your mattress, is this what I deserved.Give it a...
Read moreAlthough the owner was nice, I would not recommend Mattress Plus Things to any of my family and friends. We went in looking to purchase a mattress and the owner refused to tell us the price of one of his mattress...unless we could give him our word that we would make a purchase that day! It was ridiculous . We had only been there for about ten minutes or so, just quietly browsing around when the owner approached us and showed us a few beds. He led us to one bed in particular and asked us to try it out. We lied down for a minute and after we stood up, I asked him what the selling price for this one was, just out of curiosity. The first thing he said was, "How did you hear about me?" which makes me think that depending on whether you're referred to him or not, the prices that he discloses are different. Anyway, he wouldn't tell us the price. Dumbfounded, I enunciated and asked him again to make sure that that was exactly what he meant--that he wouldn't give us a price unless we promised that we'd make a purchase right then and there. I asked, "So what you're trying to say is that you won't tell me the price of this mattress unless I can promise you that I'll buy it today?" to which he nodded and said yes to. He said he didn't want us to walk out of that door without making a sale, which I understand. But like all customers, we want to make informed decisions and how could we do so if he refused to tell us the price?
I understand he was trying to secure a sale, but the first thing to do in order to secure a sale, would be to tell your customers the price, or what they could be expecting to pay. It was a waste of our time to drive out there and we left with practically no information.
As an owner of any store, why would you not disclose the price of your items to interested customers? We did not cause any trouble, we had only been there for a bit, and we were only respectfully browsing around.
Owner, imagine that you were at Target browsing around. You would want to know the price of that household item, or clothing, is before you place it in your cart, correct? We want the same information you would want before you were making a big purchase. I hope you are reading this and in the future, I hope that instead of making customers give you their word before you disclose your price, I hope you will help them make informed decisions and guide them in the decision making process, which would've landed in a sale for you had you helped us that day. Please consider this criticism.
Edit: This is an honest review with no other agenda than to warn future customers. If you look at the other negative reviews on here, you will see that other people have experienced pushy sales and the owner asking for a down payment that same day. Therefore you know that my review is true and must goks credence if other people have experienced it as well. You most definitely were trying to push us to make a...
Read moreDo your research before being talked into buying a mattress!
I'm not the smartest and hard-mouthed customer ever and I found this place through their Facebook ads which claims the company is liquidating for moving. The store is simple and the manager is obviously very friendly and knowledgeable about mattress, no doubt about that. Yet he's a masterful salesman. He'd make you try the different mattresses and talk you into buying the ones he wants you to get. After some nudging maybe he'll recommend you ones of a lower price point or something. I did get a mattress that's good enough for me, but after I paid almost $500 (with so-called free delivery and so-called a discount from $999 to $400 something), I looked at different online furniture stores from different parts of the country and found that the mattress is at most $250 at retail price.
I'd say that at least the store is credible because I did get my mattress the next day with the owner single-handedly delivered a queen-sized mattress and I'm grateful for that. But make sure you dig to the bottom before committing...
