On July 2nd, 2024 I placed an order with Life Monuments. Mark was reassuring and understanding when we were placing the order. I was assured the order would take 3 to 4 months to be finished/installed. 5 month later I called to check on my order and was told at first that a family member came in and changed my order and I owed money which was a complete lie(which he later admitted was a mistake on his part) then we were told "it was too cold to finish the order" and I would have to wait until March 2025. At that point we filed with the Essex County courts to settle this matter. I guess after he was served with papers that got him motivated to work on our headstone. Unfortunately it went south from there. First, the stone was engraved with my mother's name incorrectly and the dimensions of the designs did not match what we agreed upon the day we ordered. So a second stone was engraved and we were text a photo of the final product. We told Mark we would have to go see it at the cemetery to do a final inspection and get back to him. Well low and behold, a half ass job was done yet again. Besides some of the engraving being slightly crooked, the roses were printed terribly and weren't outlined/painted to match the rest of the design and lettering. So we asked Mark just fix the roses so we can put this whole thing behind us and we can cancel the court date. Three emails later and still no answer. It is now five days before the court date. As a business man, you would think he would want to avoid court and do the right thing. This whole ordeal has re-opened wounds for me and my family. The loss of my mother was tremendous and this ordeal has made it worse. As you can see from other reviews, this man has no right working in such a sensitive business. So please, refrain from doing business with Life Monuments. You will only get the runaround and end up in court. If there was a way to give zero stars,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wish I would have looked at the reviews before contracting with this company. I was referred by the cemetery because another place wanted too much money. When I went for my first appointment Mark was extremely nice and had me confident that he would do a good job. I knew it would take at least three months so it wasnāt until well after that that I contacted him to check on the progress. Although he told me he had a granite stone already I was then informed that the stone was damaged and it would take longer. He promised to reach out in two weeks which he didnāt. I had to keep calling him. His tone became very RUDE and very Disrespectful! For someone to try and bury their mother and have to deal with someone like this is truly disgusting! He yelled and told me he did call me when he didnāt and then sayid well maybe I spoke with your mother! My mother was who the stone was being made for. After realizing he was wrong his way of correcting it was to send me a text and say āI made a mistake I did 15 jobs yesterday and thought I called you, sorry if it means anythingā I could go on and on about how he told me he saved me money and didnāt care what I thought of the job he was doing for me so I shouldnāt complain. I would have paid way more money for comfort, respect, and peace of mind. If you want a headache and be treated disrespectfully then go ahead but if you donāt stay clear of this place and this person. Also donāt be fooled the kindness he shows when you go to meet for the first time. Once he gets your money you will see a total different person! WORST SERVICE IāVE EVER RECEIVED AT A MOST DIFFICULT TIME...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis business should be shut down. We ordered a headstone and paid for it in full in April, 2024. It is now August, 2025 and still no headstone. Think about that, 14 months for a headstone. Every time we contact him it's the same story, I'm working on it. How long does it possibly take to make a headstone? This is disgusting business practice and had my son read the reviews prior to choosing to do business with Mark, we would've paid more elsewhere to get the job done. Please do not choose to give this business any of your money if you truly care about your loved ones final resting stone. Absolutely unethical. I personally visited and asked for a refund and he denied it immediately and stated it was written on the receipt. Again, had it been me choosing the business he wouldn't have been my choice. You know the saying, you get what you pay for. His prices are better than other monument businesses in the area but there's a reason for it. SHUT HIM DOWN!!
Unfortunately, I had to pick a star rating for this to post but Mark and Life Monuments...
