Hometown Pantry — Local services in Bloomingdale

This is going to sound a little weird, but bear with me. I used to come here as a child, about 30 years ago. I don't know if the management has changed since then. It probably has. My brother and I (and occasionally our friends) would come in to buy candy and the owner was a very nice man who always greeted us and chatted with us. Well when we hit our teen years, we started smoking and decided to steal cigarettes from this store, and we did it often, betraying the trust of this very nice and welcoming man, not to mention hurting the business that he worked so hard for. I don't know if he ever realized we were doing it and if he did, he never said anything. The guilt I feel over this as an adult is overwhelming. I wish to apologize to this man and his family and to thank him for being so friendly and kind. I hope he is out there somewhere, or knows the current owners and will someday see this message. This place is awful. Poor stocked and what is there is expired. I bought two Snapples there, opened them up and it tasted funny. It expired in April, and I purchased it in November. When I asked for my money back the person working was very aggressive, he refused to give me my money back until the person that sold me the items came back to the store. Absolutely insane!

Great place and great service. They have a great selection of quick bites and drinks but also have an extensive alcohol offering, which is great if you are in a pinch. Bottles that are usually hard to come by. Always clean and whoever is working the desk is always...
