They deserve 0 stars in my opinion! Worst experience ever! Ordered new countertops & backsplashes on 5/18/18 with associate named Angela. We gave her a drawing/diagram of the exact measurements needed. The countertops & backsplashes come in about June 25th. We pick them up & our friends who are doing the job for us come around July 10th to install. We go to put the backsplashes on & they are the wrong height. Ok, no big deal, mistakes happen. I call to reorder the correct size. The associate name Angela tells me that our color/design has been discontinued, but her manager told her that the manufacturer keeps extras for about a year after it's discontinued. So they are able to order the correct size. Ok, so now we wait about 3 weeks & the backsplashes are in. We go to pick it up, get home & realize they now are not long enough. Ok, no big deal, we will reorder. I call to reorder it again. A day later a manager calls & leaves me a voicemail that the countertops are discontinued & they can't reorder them. So I call back, explain that the backsplashes we have are to to short & that the associate named Angela told me that even though it's discontinued the manufacturer keeps it for a year later. The manager says that isn't true. She tells me that we can order new countertops & backsplashes that are compareable. I tell who in their right mind is going to tell our friend who just did all of this work to come rip it out & re-do everything?!? She just said she doesn't have anything else they can do. This mangers name is Brittany. She was the rudest manager I've ever dealt with! I then asked for the store manager. His name is Shane. I fill him in about what is happening. He tells me he is going to see what he can do to get our backsplashes. He calls me a day later & manages to get them for me. Awesome! I let him know my friend who is doing the installation for us is having back surgery very soon & we need them no later than Sept. 1st. He says he's put a rush on it. That order was put in on Aug 18th. So Aug 31st rolls around & I don't hear anything about where/when the backsplashes are. I call & they don't seem to know exactly either. I talk with the store manager Shane & he says he will do what he can to get them in asap. Today, Sept 3rd he calls & tells us they are in. Good thing my friend was available today & came right over to install them because he has surgery in 2 days!
Bottom line...don't come here for countertops & backsplashes! Again, we put in our order on 5/28/18 & today 9/3/18 we finally got the correct items in to...
Read moreIf you know exactly what you're looking for and exactly where it is, Menards has pretty good pricing. If you're going to have ANY questions go somewhere else. This is the Walmart of home improvements, minus the ability to check other area stores inventory levels. It's staffed by warm bodies with 0 expertise and even less desire to help.
If you can't find something, keep looking because the high school kidw working most departments know what it is or where it is, don't really care, and will just tell you they don't have it. The "customer service" desk is a lesson in irony, as their customer service skills are abysmal.
I asked if they could check another location's inventory, and they told me "no, but you should probably call another store before you go there." I asked if they could call and find out, and the woman's response was "I could check on my phone just like you can, but I'm not 'posed to be on my phone at work." She pulled up their number wrote it on a piece of paper, and slapped it on the counter with a "here you go." She was WAY too busy talking to the other 2 employees at the desk and dealing with the 0 other customers up there, I guess?
I can see why she didn't want to call another store (and actually provide some "customer service") because at 8 am the other store's phone system advised that they were closed but open at 7 (one hour ago) and then told me to call back later and hung up on me. I called back a few minutes later, and they managed to open their phone system, so after listening to a ridiculously long department list (that you can't bypass by hitting zero) I managed to get in touch with someone who told me that store was out too and that I should try calling more stores.
I knew what I was getting into when I came here because their service is always horrible, but they still managed to limbo under the low bar they've established. If you're in the marker for F's, try elsewhere because this place has none to give. 5 for pricing, 1 for inability and indifference of employees gets...
Read moreEarlier today I went to the location at 290 N. Bolingbrook Dr, in Bolingbrook Illinois. I went to the paint section, looking for sandpaper. There were two ladies in that section. I greeted them both and asked for help finding the sandpaper. Neither of them said anything to me. One of them slowly walked past me and just pointed to the section I needed. Even though she had not said a word to me, I said "thank you". No response. A moment later I looked back in the direction of the area where I greeted them, and she was standing there, staring at me. She looked annoyed (or perhaps she was on drugs). Weirdest experience I ever had shopping.
Then I got to check out and the cashier said nothing to me. I still showed respect and said, "hello". He told me the total. I paid and said "thank you"....nothing from him. I left that store feeling like I was in The Twilight Zone. Whoever runs that store really dropped the ball when it comes to making sure their employees have enough common sense to actually greet their customers. Or at the very least speak when addressed. I didn't want to say anything on my way out, because I saw a few teenage employees at the customer service counter that I assumed would sweep anything I said under the rug.
After this experience, I want nothing to do with this company. Ace Hardware and Home Depot are even closer to my house,...
