Bad service at the customer service desk
I tried to return something and the Asian kid working there was on his phone and would not help me. I asked him if they paid him to play on his phone while he was working and he told me to mind my own business. I ask for his name and he refused to give it to me. What kind of place are you running at this market with a lazy worker like this person.
For a far a better Korean food shopping and restaurant experience the Seoul Restaurant located at 9900 Midlothian Turnpike, Richmond, VA is 10 times better than the New Grand Mart. The customer service is exceptional, the food is fresher, the variety of Korean food is just as good if not better than New Grand Mart and cost in most cases is lower.
The restaurant is also phenomenally better than New Grand Mart's restaurant. They serve some of the best Korean dishes I've ever eaten in the Richmond area. The restaurant is 5 times larger than New Grand Mart's restaurant and much cleaner. The service is alway impeccable. They also serve 6 different normal portioned side dishes or Bonchon with their meals. The New Grant Mart restaurant serves 3 tiny side dish that are about the size of quarter and the Kimchi is always old and very sour.
So, if you're looking for great alternate source for Korean groceries and dining experience, give Seoul...
Read moreThis review is a reflection of the restaurant "Noodles and Friends" located inside the grocery store. This restaurant's Google profile reflects it is Permanently Closed as of this writing, but the restaurant was open while we were there. There are two menus, one that is Latin and one that is Asian.
My husband and I found the food at the restaurant to be over priced, many of the dishes were over $15 each. The chicken quesadilla was dry (not sure how you can accomplish this), the tacos were mostly just tortilla and a meager amount of lackluster filling. I got the noodles with black bean sauce and wasn't impressed.
The staff member taking our order was unable to speak about the dishes and the food took longer than expected to be ready (especially as there were no other customers ordering while we were there).
We were looking for quick, tasty take out were disappointed with the overall experience. The grocery store on the other hand seems like a great place to get hard to find ingredients that reflect many different cultures. But I will not be back to get food from...
Read moreThey saved my Christmas dinner!!! We had been out of town for a week and didn't have time to shop for the main meal and didn't want to buy it prior to leaving because we would have had to freeze everything. Everyone knows it takes forever to thaw a bird. We expected to be home before the stores closed but we ran later than expected. Christmas morning I called around, and as expected all the super markets were closed. But I wasn't willing to give up so easy and I expanded my search to Richmond which is an hour deive for me. I found New Grand mart open. They had one more turkey, but it was frozen, so I looked in the fresh meats and they had three frying chickens left. I can make Christmas dinner with chicken!! I'm not a huge fan of turkey anyway. BONUS it was organic. And they had everythig else I needed, AND they have some snacks I can't find anywhere else except in international marks such as this one. So off I went and that is how my Christmas dinner was saved. Thank you for being open!! Dinner was delicious thanks to you and you wonderfully...
