STAY CLEAR*AVOID AT ALL COSTS April, 2016 my family took a trip to Florida to see our relatives. My sister couldn't wait to take us to Master Bait and Tackle. When we arrived we were not greeted by any employee. We continued shopping. During this time my 3 year old grandson stated he had to go potty. My sister said to the older man(owner) (far from a gentleman) "Excuse me..do you have a bathroom for this little 3 year old boy?" The man ignored her and started yelling at a customer he was attempting to help(not helpful). Again, my sister said Excuse me. The older man yelled "can't you see I'm in the middle of something"!! My sister apologized and stated yes, but this little guy needs a bathroom. The man turned extremely red and yelled at my sister saying that she was rude and not to interrupt him. My husband asked "is this how you treat all of your customers or just women and a children". Then my husband told him he just Pssd away a couple of hundred dollars in sales(we laid our merchandise down). The old man said "I don't need your Fuing business anyway. We have always supported local business'. But not in this case!! The best advertisement for the business owner or customer is word of mouth..*BUYER...
Read moreThe attendant was super inpatient, unfriendly, and in general, made me feel pretty awkward and uncomfortable being in the store and in his presence. His one redeemable characteristic, as a retail employee, was that he could stick his hand inside a bait tank to get bait apparently. Thatâs really the only vibe I got from him. I was looking to buy a bunch of stuff - he had no interest in trying to upsell me, and didnât even seem to care enough to offer recommendations that would surely result in basic sales. I had to pry out of him recommendations like trying to buy things was a major inconvenience to his âvaluableâ time (I was the only customer in the store). Why this place sells apparel, in an attempt to leverage their brand name, as if they care about their brand image, is miraculous to me. I had been here once before and got a comment that the store wasnât a Walmart (possibly referring to my relatively novice level of fishing skills) which was totally rude. As a small business, if you guys canât offer marginally better customer service than a big box store, CLOSE, as they can offer better value across the board...
Read moreToo bad only complainers are writing reviews. Master Bait and Tackle is AWESOME! Great shirts, great shrimp, great service, great ambiance AND great prices. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable as to all things fishing related. Especially "Jemel" he is the friendliest most knowledgeable and patient employee I have ever dealt with in any small business. MBT doesn't get a cut or kickbacks for charter referrals, its just a service they provide to their customers. As for the shrimp, they have the best live shrimp around, delivered fresh from the Gulf daily from local fisheries. Try buying frozen dead shrimp from Publix for a better price! My shrimp are still swimming at the end of my day. - Have you tried using an aerator and keeping them out of the direct sunlight? - My advice to you, stop complaining and try to enjoy life a little. Master Bait & Tackle is a great place to shop...
