Have been to this Goodwill numerous times before, however I was dropping off very nice gently used items and planning on shopping, but the experience today was quite disappointing. I patiently parked my car right next to the drop off zone near the cones because it was very busy and I had only one large box to donate including women’s clothing and a very nice vintage wool Chiefs blanket. I proceeded to grab the box from the back of my car while the employee at the door watched from afar. I closed my trunk and began walking the box up to which I was greeted by the most rude reply. I could not walk my box up, but had to drive up. No problem. I went to set my box down right next to the cones and pillar and pull my car up. The employee proceeded to tell me it was store policy that I walk the box back to my car, put it back in my trunk and then pull up. I couldn’t set it down where I was to save me the lift back, and then pull up. The employee working the drop off was very rude not only in his approach, but his tone and discussion about how to drop off items. It was completely unreasonable the way he spoke to me and treated me. I am willing to follow store policy and the rules with no issue. It was in the way I was treated. Policy or not, kindness goes a long way and was completely absent. There is a much better approach to those willing to give their items. I politely returned to my car with my single heavy box and left. Someone out there needing these items will appreciate it more than me leaving it behind with...
Read moreThey rush you out 30 minutes before closing. The door and website confirmed they closed at 8:00pm the day I was there. I got there at 7:25pm to spend a little time while waiting for someone. I was browsing, finding a couple things here and there. The manager, an older woman turned the lights off in the additional shoe room at 7:30. It was too dark to go in there. I looked at the time because I was surprised at how early it was. Then at 7:31 the cashier made an overhead announcement that they were closing in 29 minutes and we needed to please come to the register to check out. I browsed a couple more minutes but felt really rushed. At 7:40 I just put my stuff back and left. I understand them wanting to go home after a long day but they definitely made me feel like that was more important than my business, even though they were still supposed to be open. The store itself was ok. It’s nice they have bathrooms and...
Read moreGoodwill has gotten way out of touch of what a thrift store is. The prices are outrageous and clearly priced by people who have no grasp on actual prices for new items. A donated, used, second (or third) hand item should not be priced even more than 50% of a new item. The reason people shop at thrift stores is for a crazy good deal. Not to pay $32 for a used pair of tennis shoes, regardless of the brand. Kids tshirts priced at $9 a piece is ridiculous. (Yes, I saw both of these examples today.)
The racks and shelves are packed so tight you can hardly see what’s available. Which is a direct reflection of the prices - all prices should be halved so some of this inventory can actually be cleared out. And the new ridiculous discount pricing schedule of 25% off one color these days, 50% those days, 75% those days is laughable. There’s too much inventory and too high of prices to be so restrictive with...
