I met Marty when she was working at Nest in downtown Boston back in 2018. She gave me the best haircut I’ve ever had in my life! After a few months, I was looking to book an appointment with her, but by that time she was at a different salon. I looked to book with her at the new salon, but financially couldn’t justify the amount of money I was going to cough up for the services I was inquiring about. With that said, I did continue to follow Marty on her Instagram and saw that due to the pandemic she was no longer working at that salon. Then I noticed she opened up her own salon in South Boston which excited me!

I never forgot how many compliments I got on my haircut when it was done by Marty. So I felt compelled to reconnect. I reached out to Marty on IG and asked to book an appointment. She was very timely in her response and very helpful on how to book the appointment online.

I went in for my first visit at her salon and was greeted immediately. Marty also remembered me after all these years so that was another plus! Then before doing anything Marty took the time to understand my vision and my goals with my hair. She didn’t try to push for something I didn’t want to do and was very honest about how many sessions it would take for me to get to the color I wanted (I have dark hair and wanted to go blonde). I ended up getting the best balayage and haircut I’ve gotten from any stylist/colorist.

Marty is a hair magician and I cannot stress enough how talented and gifted she is. What I love about her is that she genuinely loves what she does and wants to have good personal/professional relationships with her clients. It’s a rarity especially in this city to find people in her field be so kind and caring, but also just a delight to be around.

I've been getting balayage on and off for the past several years, and this was by far my best salon experience! As a brunette, it's been hard for me to find someone who blends the balayage since I like a more natural look. Marty went above and beyond, starting the appointment with a series of questions to make sure she knew exactly what I wanted and what my hair history was.

Throughout the entire appointment she checked in with me to see if I was comfortable with anything from my trim length to how I felt about the color each stage of the process. Also, she gave me INCREDIBLE tips and knowledge throughout the entire appointment. For example, walking me through the process of what she was doing, what products she was using, and styling tips.

She is incredibly experienced and knowledgeable and I am so grateful to have found her and Feather and Waves! I also really appreciated their COVID precautions including hand sanitizer, temperature checks, and ample space...

I've been going to Martha since 2013 and I'm thrilled that she finally opened her own place in Southie! I cannot recommend her enough, I send everyone I know to her. She was the first stylist ever to color my hair and she is truly talented, especially with hair painting on dark hair. I trust her completely, she always offers excellent advice and has a great eye for helping people look their best. Between her extensive knowledge and warm personality, I can always relax when I'm in her chair.
