(CR) Ruggles is a beautiful station, especially with the new Track 2 platform. All Commuter Rail trains to/from Providence/Wickford Junction, RI, Stoughton, Franklin, Foxboro and Needham Heights stop here, while Amtrak services pass by (use Back Bay to board Amtrak). Southbound trains generally board on Track 1 or 3, and Northbound trains generally use Track 2 or 3. What's unfortunate about this station is that track change announcements generally don't exist, and you can't check for track changes once you go down to the platform. This is a major problem for inbound trains, as if you wait for an inbound train on Track 3 and it comes on Track 2 instead (or vise versa), you have to go up stairs, walk through the station and down the busway to the entrance to Track 2, which is very time consuming and will likely make you miss your train. Outbound trains switching tracks isn't a problem though, as both outbound tracks use the same platform. Both platforms have shelter, but I feel Track 2's could be better. The station is accessible by elevator for Track 1/3 and a level entrance for Track 2. The high platform allows for accessible boarding in all cars, but some other stations require boarding in the southern two cars to alight easily at your end stop. Announcements tell you when trains are arriving, the train number and the destination, and will also alert people when a non-stop train passes through...
Read moreThis is easily my favorite train station of all time and I'll tell you why First of all, it rhymes with puggles, muggles, snuggles, juggles, luggles, and yuggles. A few of those aren't words but they are now because of Ruggles, that's it's power. Second of all, Ruggles is a crossroads, between people, between neighborhoods, between the very idea of the universe. Bask in it's magnificent hallway and you surely will find peace reaching into your cold soul. It commutes you to enlightenment one delayed Orange Line train at a time. Ruggles Station, I laud thee. I shall sing thy praises so all of the greater Boston area can make pilgrimage to your decaying walls and your shady back stair case, they shall realize their fullest of potentials once they ascend onto your brick archway. THE WORLD SHALL FOR EVER KNOW THE WORD "RUGGLES" AND PRAISE THE VERY BREATH THAT THEY TAKE IN ORDER TO SAY IT. THEY SHALL CRY WITH JUBILANT VOICES WHENEVER THE COMMUTER RAIL PASSES THROUGH AND UNDERSTAND WHAT LIFE TRULY MEANS!
RUGGLES! RUGGLES!! RUGGLES!!!...
Read more22 always late or worst NEVER CAME, always miss 3 time schedule, weekdays and weekends don’t matter the time or day, what I think is completely unfair is let people and kids who depend of public transportation waiting on extreme low temperatures on winter, make people pay for taxes or transport passes to not even receive a good transportation service. Also be late and work or loose appointments. People who work the whole day have to wait for 1 hours or more when the bus is supposed to pass by before it. Whoever is the manager is doing an horrible work and the city...
