Yesterday evening, Monday, May 17st, 2021 around 8:45 pm, at your store located at 1620 Tremont Street in Boston, MA.02120. I was harassed and humiliated again! By a short older female Hispanic supervisor named Angela.
She falsely accused me of attempting to shoplift a $2.00 package of baby wipes and a $1.19 box of tissues?!
She had the audacity to ask me:" Are you going to pay for those?!" She asked me this with other customers present and listening and laughing at me!!
"Angela" regularly harasses me and even told me when I asked about an out-of-stock item: "Go away, shop somewhere else, I don't even like you!" What kind of customer service is this?! This kind of diatribe against customers at Stop and Shop has got to go!!!
I guess as an African American, my business and my contribution to your company's profit margins DON'T SEEM TO MATTER! When I shop at the Harvard Street Stop and Shop location in Brookline, MA. I am warmly greeted by friendly Stop and Shop employees, NEVER watched or falsely accuse of stealing or ever disrespected by any of your staff! This is all about consistency!
No matter what Stop and Shop store I patronize, I should be treated the same! With respect and dignity! The same quality service should be Rule, not the Exception!! I should not be falsely accused of creating "shrink" and disrespected and told to go shop somewhere else and shop!! I am a manager with a major investment bank, in wire and mortgage fraud. The notion that I shop at your store and spend on average about $700- $800 per month, but cannot afford to pay for any items in my shopping cart at the point of sale, makes no sense whatsoever!!
"Abraham" another Stop and Shop supervisor, was present on one occasion when I reported a woman who attempted to steal hundreds of dollars of shampoo and conditioner, from your store! Because I reported her activity, Abraham was able to recover all the stolen merchandise and tell this woman to leave the store and not return.
All I did was ask for change. While I was trying to explain the situation to Jasmine the manager on duty, Sonya, again laughed in my face and yelled at me! Telling me to be quiet and go home! Nothing's going to happen!
I felt mistreated, disrespected, and humiliated! Sonya flatly refused to apologize to me! She just giggled at me and said: "Have a good night!" She accused me of stealing in front of other customers and employees. I believe Sonya thinks, she is not subject to the rules, and your company guidelines or code of conduct from your human resources department, I believe she thinks the rules don't apply to her, just other Stop and Shop employees!
This is unacceptable and unbelievable behavior in a retail environment! I want an apology and an explanation for this flagrant verbal abuse and disrespect towards me! This has got to stop! I am illegally and unfairly being watched, subjected, and "targeted" with horrible treatment in this location, by your employee Sonya! We are all experiencing a global pandemic with COVID-19 and the birth of the (BLM) movement for African Americans being disrespected and unlawfully being racially profiled! This is the time when Stop and Shop should "embrace" the Stop and Shop core values, for all customers that patronizes your establishment and foster an environment of respect and inclusion. Instead of harassing and humiliating loyal customers that have supported Stop and Shop for years, even during a regional employee strike! I deserve better treatment than this!
P.S. I have been shopping at Stop and Shop for over 11 years, I even crossed the picket lines when the Stop & Shop strike began on April 11, 2019, when approximately 31,000 workers, represented by United Food and Commercial Workers, walked off the job and began picketing Stop & Shop locations across Massachusetts. I continued to support your company. Speaking with your head store manager, "Frank ", I will continue to support your company, regardless of your rank and file walking...
Read moreI have never left a review on google before but feel compelled to do so after my last few visits to this stop and shop. Being a large chain and the only major grocery store within a half mile, I would hope that this stop and shop would be an accessible and affordable place to do my grocery shopping, but that is patently not the case. At this stop and shop, you pay more than anywhere else in Boston for significantly lower quality. For example, limes are $1 and are very small and often old, whereas limes are as cheap as 10 cents in other grocery stores for much larger size and better quality. But this is just one example. Produce from stop and shop is consistently bruised, old, and sometimes rotting. It feels insulting that the prices are so ridiculously high on top of these quality issues compared to other grocery stores in Boston. Even looking around for an unripe and unbruised fruit or vegetable is difficult because the vast majority of their produce is so low in quality and freshness. This problem doesn’t apply to just produce. Their selection of meats is laughably small and low quality. There is no butcher in store so I understand that prepackaged meats tend to be less fresh. With that said, I have seen on multiple occasions rotting, dark brown meat that you could smell through the package, priced at a discount even though it was clearly risky to eat. The selection is ridiculously small too. They have a wall of chicken thighs from multiple overpriced brands but they have less than 10 pieces of beef steaks all in the same exact cut. They have a decent selection of Caribbean foods, but you’d be much better off just going to Tropical Foods for this and would have access to a wider and fresher selection of meats and produce. On top of all these issues with quality, their labor practices are questionable. They tend to have 1 or 0 registers open even at peak hours and have even gone so far as to turn some of their closed checkout lines into self checkouts which feels alienating and weird as a consumer, and allows them to cut down on paying cashiers for hours they would spend working these aisles which are far superior to self checkouts. It seems that despite inflation, stop and shop could certainly afford to pay for workers to man these checkout aisles with the exorbitant price increases that greatly outpace the rate of inflation. Do your wallet and the community a favor and just go to tropical foods or any grocery store in Chinatown. This place feels...
Read moreI wrote a review about my bad experience yesterday at this stop and shop calling them out for the services and lack of customer service in poor areas, and somehow it was deleted. I'm not surprised stop and shop reported it because it was that negative. I took an uber there yesterday at 5pm and when I arrived the service desk at was closed...at 5:30pm on a WEDNESDAY. That would never happen in an area where people have money. I would know because I grew up in an upper scale area. When I asked why it was closed, they informed me they were short staffed, and they were extremely dismissive and rude, not acknowledging wasting my time and money. Another gentleman there was getting loud with them about it, as he was upset as well. He asked why they were closed, and said he had things he had to pay today, and the employee asked him sarcastically "what kind of things?", as if that was her business. In the case that no one is there to work the desk, the front-end manager or store manager should have been responsible for covering or had someone cover from another store. INCREDIBLE they went out of their way to delete my review but didn't contact me to apologize or at least acknowledge they NEED TO DO BETTER IN POOR COMMUNITIES. It's bad enough they charge more in poor areas, but then completely neglect our community and lack customer service. Do...
