Club Pilates is helping me fall in love with exercise for the first time in my life. I’ve never been one for physical activity (I’d purposely wear dress shoes in elementary school so I didn’t have to participate in gym class), and now that I’m in my mid-30s and trying to keep up with a toddler, it really caught up with me. I’ve exercised off and on until this point but never really enjoyed it.
I made it my mission this year to get my life back together and decided to try Pilates. I’m about two months in now and have taken just shy of 30 classes. I LOVE it. I crave it. I have even looked up studio schedules when traveling for work!
I’m down nearly 10 lbs (combined with better nutrition), my friends have noticed a difference, and most importantly, I FEEL better. I’ve had some chronic pain in my feet, hips, and back since having a baby, and it’s all just disappeared. I have a long way to go in my practice, but I can feel myself getting stronger. I’m proud of myself for the first time in a long time.
Every instructor teaches a little differently, and it only takes a few weeks to find your favorites. Yes, the wait lists can be long, but if you get the unlimited membership you can book up to 15 classes out 60 days in advance. Plus I often make it into classes even when I’m on the wait list! I LOVE the class levels — I’d tried reformer Pilates at another studio a few years ago and the moves were so challenging that I felt like I was at serious risk for injury. Now I can focus on getting my form right and more control of my movements before leveling up.
Everyone has been really nice and welcoming, and I’ve noticed very little of the “Pilates princess” stereotype. There are just as many people in leggings and an oversized tee shirt as there are in matching sets. Pilates may look intimidating, but if I can do...
Read moreI started at Club Pilates, Bothell a few months after my second ACL surgery in January, 2021, on the advice of my physical therapist, who was STOTTs trained. She introduced me to Pilates during my PT sessions. Before tearing my ACL, I was a cardio dance fanatic, strength trainer, HIIT and vinyasa yoga enthusiast. I thought Pilates was for classical dancers. Not so, it's for every type of body and gender. I tried the free intro class and was intrigued. Club Pilates opened my eyes to a whole new world of safe, fun, body-toning, strength-building, cardio-enhancing classes that give me the variety of safe, effective movement my body needs and I crave. And, bonus, I became more flexible and I was no longer sidelined with injuries. There’s a lot of bashing of Club Pilates online, which I believe is studio dependent. Because Club Pilates Bothell and Woodinville are FANTASTIC and have a great vibe! They have instructors from different training programs and a variety of class types so there’s something for EVERY BODY. The staff is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and attentive and the owner cares and seems to take pride in their studio and staff. I’ve had issues over the years and they have always been addressed in a compassionate and professional manner. My Club Pilates is my happy place. I look forward to every class and feel “worked...in a feel good way” at the end. I have a new appreciation for my body and what it can do. I’m grateful that my physical therapist introduced me to Pilates and that Club Pilates is close by in Bothell and...
Read moreI started my Pilates journey at this studio in September, taking a trial class to explore something new. Since then, I’ve been completely hooked! Pilates has become my go-to activity to stay motivated and energized, especially during the colder winter months. I genuinely look forward to these classes every week—that’s the kind of positive impact it has had on me.
The instructors here are fantastic, and I’d like to give a special shoutout to Helen, Kari, and Crystal. Helen, in particular, is incredible. Her pace is perfect, and she pays such careful attention to every individual in the class. It’s evident that she genuinely cares about her students, ensuring everyone gets the most out of each session.
That said, I did face some challenges in the beginning. As a complete beginner, I wasn’t sure which classes were suitable for me and ended up picking randomly. While I’ve now figured out which ones work best for my needs, I wish someone had noticed I was new and provided guidance on class selection right from the start. In hindsight, I should’ve asked, but it would be great if the studio proactively offered that support for newcomers.
Overall, I’m very happy with this studio and its services. The positive atmosphere, skilled instructors, and the joy I get from every session make this an integral part of my week. I plan to continue for as long as I possibly can! It’s an experience worth...
